Barre on Rest Days

Hi Guys,
I tend to have 1-2 day off a week from exercise. I do around 60 minutes every morning apart from this as well as walking around 6.5 miles 3-4 times a week. I hate having rest days though, so I have started doing Barre workouts on my rest days. It still burns a significant amount of calories (I use Fitness Blender and they work out the calories burned for you) but seems to be less harsh on your muscles and joints. Any thoughts on whether this is okay to be doing on rest days?

"Rest days" mean different things for different people. It's going to depend on what your body can handle, and on how hard you're working on the other days. For example, I am perfectly fine not taking rest days if all I'm doing is elliptical 45-60 min/day. Marathon training right now, I find I'm needing one REAL rest day (couch day) and one extra day of just easy swimming.
If you start to feel worn out, notice your resting heart rate (in the morning before getting out of bed) is rising, or you start piling up little injuries, maybe time to back off a little.0 -
My half training plan has 3 rest days a week. One of those, I strength train with my trainer. Another, I take a class that involves light strength training. The last one, I tend to make an actual rest day, with the exception of taking a walk in the afternoon. Sometimes, I'll skip my class if I feel like I need the rest day. I haven't done a Barre workout, but I would be cautious not to overdo it.0

Rest means rest0

I have one lighter day (e.g. just yoga or a light, short jog) and I have one day of total rest each week. And I do mean total rest. I don't just sit on the couch - I spend a bit of time on my foam roller, stay generally active etc.
I work out heavily the rest of the week, my muscles need the time to recover and re-build. I don't want to undermine my progress.0 -
I do Barre 4-5 times a week. If you're doing it correctly, it's definitely not a "rest" day.0

Barre is STILL resistance training and there if you trained the same muscles before (weight lifting), you AREN'T getting a rest day.

Since I posted this in August, I have changed up my workout schedule and joined a gym and tend to do lots of gym workouts now - but now I have a longing to go back to Barre0
