I'm not losing weight...

Hi,
I've tried MFP a couple times before and I've always had the same result. I'll lose between 2-8 pounds in the first 2 weeks as water weight and then the pounds slowly start coming back and within another week I'm back to my original weight or higher and get discouraged and give up. Does anyone know what's causing this or how to stop it and start losing again?

You need to be at a caloric deficit (consuming less than you burn) for WEEKS at a time. The more weeks you string together, properly logging and being in a deficit, the more you will lose and the more you will stay motivated. You just need to keep on track.0

I can reccomend to read this site: http://www.iifym.com/tdee-calculator/. it will give insights of what the amount of calories you should take to gain, lose or maintain your weight. Losing weight is all about eat less calorie than you should.

You are probably taking more calories, you need to track your calories and start your weight loss program. You will gradually lose some calories that will boost up your confidence.0

Hi I have a question. When you say calories deficit which is eating less than you burn does it mean if you are eating 1200 calorie a day you have to burn more than that?0

I just read on calorie deficit. No wonder I'm not loosing weight. Now I get it. Yikes! I'm gonna ha he my diet plan by tonight and hope it works.0

Your body is always burning calories. For living, for moving thru your daily routine, and when you exercise. You do not need to burn 1200 calories on the treadmill. You don't need to burn any calories exercising, though exercising certainly has plenty of benefits. Its like a checkbook. Lets say your bank account is connected to a credit card for overdraft protection. If you spend more $ (energy/calories) than you deposit (food/calories) then the excess comes from your overdraft protection (fat stores).0 -

I'll admit that I probably haven't been as accurate as I should be with tracking calories but after weighting in this morning it seems I've gained another 2 pounds overnight. Is this normal?0 -

It's normal for weight to fluctuate daily due to things like dehydration, constipation, hormones, exertion, or sodium consumption.
Without accurately tracking your calories it's going to be harder for you to tell if you're just seeing normal fluctuations or gaining weight. But people don't gain two pounds of fat overnight.0
