Fitbit ..plus separate HRM ...disabling negative adjustments

Just a quick check for sense

If I disable negative adjustments on MFP and still use my polar to log in specific exercise the time zone for that specific exercise will be overwritten in Fitbit and so not double counted on MFP right?

Eg 7000 steps in a day
But 4000 of them during an HRM monitored workout
Logged in exercise diary as 300 cals for a 45 minute workout
So get those 300 cals plus whatever Fitbit adjustment over and above, accounting for the 300
But Fitbit is giving me 280 on top

*numbers are all made up but that's the thrust

It looks like my diary is all cocked up this week...and the only change I've made is disabled neg adjustments

I also have not drunk sufficient coffee to make sense of it

I hope I understand what you're saying. I don't log excersize anymore since I connected my fitbit HR, because it logs all burned calories, no matter if it was a work out or not. And it's been giving me a lot of extra cals in my diary so I'm a bit skeptic.
I think letting your fitbit adjust and logging excersize is doing it double.

The -107 fitbit adjustment on the screen shot looks like you haven't disabled negatives ? What does the little i icon tell you about the adjustment ?

To log exercise here and avoid double counting the time of starting and duration of exercise needs to be correct but what you're aiming for is right in principle.

Thanks but it's not double counting

I use a zip which is a pedometer only

And then I use a chest strap HRM to monitor exercises where the HRM to calorie conversion is fairly accurate ..steady state

By logging separately on MFP it is supposed to overwrite steps logged during the time of exercise on Fitbit so there is no double counting

the calories have proved accurate enough for me, although I do monitor against my scale weight over rolling 6 weeks and have been overeating calorie estimates by 1500 per week to stay in maintenance

..it just seems this week my charts are just going bonkers

I don't trust 24 hour wearables calories and think you're right to be sceptical there though

I took off the negative adjustments at the beginning of the week because I wanted to see if that would be more accurate for me ...cos I've been 'overeating' by 1500 weekly to stay at maintenance for months

Mebbe it's just glitching from there

The different read outs from app to website are odd though

There shouldn't be a negative number if it's turned off, surely ? I'll see if I can replicate that...

    That's what I thought

There isn't in the app screen but is in the website one

    Edit

Just checked my settings again and for some reason my negative adjustments was ticked again

That's confusing...I haven't touched it since last weekend ..have unticked again

Thanks @yarwell that might explain it ...I assumed my settings wouldn't change unless I chose to change them

The app and the web don't respond the same. If I back log some exercise in MFP it reflects instantly on Fitbit.com but only shows up on the web as MFP calories burned under the Fitbit (i) icon.

Makes you wonder if there are two databases running in parallel - did you turn off the negatives on the app or the web or both ?

Just the website - it was the web that showed negative adjustment the app looked ok

Although I would not expect 200 calories for 3000 steps (rough figures as per op)

Over in the Exercise forum there is a thread about Fitbit MFP syncing being wacky the past few days. You might want to check it.

I just checked my diary. It's not right either. Last night right before bed it was fine (matched with fitbit.) This morning the ending numbers are off. I've started logging my food with mfp and exercise with fitbit. Then I look at fitbit to determine if I'm in its green zone as far as being close to goal.
