I see a lot of people having pre workout meal and I see others taking pre workout supplements? Should I be doing both? Or which should I do?

Nothing before or atleast 2 hours rest after eating. You have energy stored in you for the workout if you do the normal one hour session. Today I had fasted for 15 hours before 50 min heavy RM bench training and it surely was harder than normal but I need to get my fat burning machine running again nicely before summer. After training its important to get your carbs and protein in the 2 hour window but looking at your avatar you already know this but maybe someone needs to get this important muscle metabolism time window in to their schedule. I did take bcaa with water as I was training.

Completely personal preference. Worrying about meal timing is majoring in the minors for 99% of people.

This. The body utilizes what energy is available and if one "stored" up enough a couple of hours before, neither may be needed at all. IMO, unless it's strategic to exercise, it's just extra calories.

I like to have some light carbs 30-60 minutes before my workout, BCAAs 15-30 minutes before and also sip on BCAAs during.

But that's just what I like to do.

To eat or not to eat before workout is def a personal preference and of course what you eat or supplement with is up to you.

And meal timing as @usmcmp said, well point said..

You may find those that workout fasted (me) and those that have to eat before the workout of any kind.. Supplements, well that is another topic..

Info is plentiful here in the community, but you have to try something to find out what works for you.

I can't work with intensity for a couple of hours after a decent sized meal. Sometimes I have a banana and some caffeine right before a workout if my energy is low.

I usually drink a whey protein shake 60-90 min before and a whey/casein blend with a banana after. I don't know how critical it is, but it's a nice routine for me to get my nutritional requirements for the day.

If I have to do cardio or circuits I do a fasted workout and have BCAA's. If I'm doing weights I'll have a something small and BCAA's. But just like everyone said, it's personal preference.
