too old to be this big!

I am almost 69 and weigh over 300 lbs, I eat less than 1800 cals daily , swim 180 min a week , not losing . any ideas?

Are you using a food scale to weigh everything? Are you weighing and measuring things like peanut butter, butter, oils, dressings, sauces ? Those things add up quick! Are you measuring all your liquids ?0

yes thanks ,according to my daily intake , i'm much lower than allowed I quit smoking years ago gained 100 lbs, in ten years while going through menopause , just cant lose it . I am learning to eat slower, smaller bites , i'm a fast eater .plus I am eating more fiber and protein , plus a probiotic . its only been a month , so hopefully it will help.

Have you had your thyroid checked lately? I hate to say that only because every time I see a new doctor and they see I'm overweight the first thing they wanna do is check my thyroid lol nope, it's fine, I just eat too much. But I know menopause can put the body through a lot, maybe it's worth checking.0

Menopause is a b*tch! I actually think you're not eating enough. At 300lb your maintenance calorie level should be a lot more than 1800 (I'm about 170lb and mine is 1840). Sounds weird I know but the thing with menopause is that your body is fighting to keep every ounce of body fat (because that's where estrogen comes from) so losing weight is totally about battling the body fat and you need calories to do that (do a google search on "am I eating enough calories"). The swimming is good but you're going to have to really push your body to fight for control. Mix up the exercise with walking and weights or body weight exercises. You need to get yourself really puffed out every day, like "OMG I'm dying" puffed out.
Over the last two years I was continuing my usual exercise and diet habits and gained weight the whole time! Everything that used to work just stopped working. Two months ago I changed up my routine, got really serious about DAILY exercise (either walk or workout for an hour), started a "high-low" diet regime (cycles through low calorie days and maintenance level days) and things are finally starting to shift - slowly but surely. Using mfp really helps and I track my steps and workout time with MapMy Fitness.0 -
