Any good cereals or alternative?

Just wanted to know if there are any specific cereals that are good when on a diet or same category style foods?
Sorry if it's a stupid question but I know very little about dieting only that I need one lol

Porridge is good. I use Cuppa Porridge, just add boiling water. 209cals per sachet. Good fibre and protein too but a bit high on sugar (15.7g). Very good for lowering cholesterol though.

Absolutely! It's kind of terrible all by itself! For breakfast my favorite is cooking it overnight in a crock pot with nuts and fruit and milk - about 1c oatmeal, 4c milk, 1c nuts, 1c dried fruit...I usually use almond or cashew milk, but I expect it would work with cows milk...my favorite is probably cranberries and pecans...but any combination of fruit or nuts is good...sometimes I don't cook it, but use about half as much milk and just sit it in the refrigerator overnight...not cooked is a bit more chewy an less soft, so it just depends on what you like...I have recently started experimenting with oatmeal for dinner and made it with beans and diced tomato, then topped it with salsa and cheese and avocado...it was pretty good, but I would add more seasoning next time since it was a touch bland.0

The same food is good whether you want to lose weight or not, just adjust portions and frequency to fit with your calorie need. Cereals belong to the starchy food group, that also includes potato and sweet potato. You can choose among them, and variety is good. I believe you are asking about "breakfast cereals"? No specific cereals are better than others, they all contribute to a well balanced diet, if you eat other foods as well. Look for cereals that are just that, grains - oats, wheat, rye, barley, rice, corn, has some fiber, and no additives, look for sugar in all its guises, and it should have natural vitamins and minerals, not be stripped and then "fortified"/"enriched".0

I havent had cereal for years. Have you ever seen what 30g looks like? Its just not worth it for the calories. Even the lower calorie ones. I have 30g porridge oats in 1 cup alond milk and a stevia on occasion.
For me lower calorie options are 2 english bacon rashers or a poached egg ir 2 low fat pork sausages wit grilled mushrooms and tomatos.
I really love grated carrot and apple with some juicy sultanas and cinamon and nutmeg with greek yohurt - leave overnight. It is half the calories of cereal for my size serving. Sweet, creamy and crunchy.0 -

I love having 2 Weetabix (only 135 calories) with 240ML of skimmed milk. Really fills me up for a good 3/4 hours.

I'd say any cereal of your preference, but I try to steer clear of super sugary cereals and try to go for one that has more nutrients. One of my favorites is Kix, a serving is 30g @ 110 calories. I'll sometimes have a bowl and a half or two, depending on when i'm eating it. I love cereal and make it fit into my daily calories.0

If it fits into your calorie goal any cereal will work. I tend to stay away from the super sugary ones but I like honey nut cheerios. not too bad, calorie wise, but still get that sweetness.0

I rarely eat cereal but, when I do it is definitely the good stuff like froot loops or frosted flakes. I am not wasting cals on cereals I find gross just because they are healthier.0

Cereal is amazingggggg....but iffff you want a high protein/ lower carb alternative: take a quest bar. Microwave briefly just so it's pliable. Flatten a little and cut into small squares (about 20-25 pieces). Bake in an oven at 350 for 5-10 mins....boom.....low carb/ high protein cereal0

Lately I've been digging Kashi Go Lean cereal. High fiber, protein and low sugar. I'll eat it in a bowl with milk or mixed into greek yogurt with some fruit.0

Cereal is sugar and cardboard, doesn't belong in a well thought out diet. If you want it in there, CICO. Also, Great Grains isn't super awful and tastes pretty good0

I love putting cereal in greek yogurt instead of granola. It makes a serving feel bigger and last longer, plus you get protein from the yogurt. Especially love it as my pre workout meal or dessert0

I generally eat protein for breakfast (yogurt or cottage cheese with allspice, or eggs, or a protein shake) and do not "feel hungry" all day. If I eat carbs (like fruit or toast or cereal) I am "hungry" ALL day and constantly wanting snacks and don't feel full - I know it's a blood sugar thing.
If you buy oatmeal - get the old fashioned oats. You can make a serving in the microwave w/water in a glass bowl in about 1.5 - 2 min. This is MUCH CHEAPER & HEALTHIER than buying the "quick" breakfast packets. Just as easy to make and doesn't have all the chemicals, sugar etc. in it.

I've always liked having breakfast cereal, but I was eating Froot Loops and Lucky Charms - very high in sugar. When I started losing weight a few years ago, I found Special K Protein to be a good substitute. Lots of protein, but still a somewhat sweet flavor. It's now my go-to breakfast 2-3 days a week.0

Any cereal that you love to eat and it fits into your daily calories is good. I've had from Lucky Charms, Cocoa Pebbles, Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran... etc. (seriously any cereal) and I'm losing weight.0

Protein, fat and fiber are filling.
Look for cereal with one or more of these attributes. Then combine it with 2% milk or yogurt.
This is why sugary cereals don't work for me. Too many calories wasted (IMO). If I want something sweet, I'd rather "spend the calories" on chocolate...not Trix (nasty!).0 -

If you absolutely love it, you can still have it. Just make sure you read the nutritional guidelines, measure out a serving. I love honey nut cheerios and I do eat them occasionally. You can't give up everything you love forever, that is how failure happens. Moderation is the key!!0

Plain Cheerios are good. I also like Kashi. Oatmeal is a big go-to for me though. It keeps me full until lunch.0

I will have a 30g serving of fiber one, and a hard boiled egg, if in a rush to get out the door. It's in my bag of tricks to never skip breakfast.0

Nope, even if I add peanut butter and protein powder to cooked rolled oats, it's still only good for a bedtime snack, and not a breakfast that is supposed to hold me until lunch.0 -
kashi golean has good fiber and protien content to keep you full
though right now I'm eating the strawberry miniwheats. mmmm0
