Only been here a few days but yeah been going way over and its mostly from fruit...is it ok to not count the sugar you get from fruits then?0

i never even look at my sugar...
i am not diabetic and i know i am getting no added sugars whatsoever unless i treat myself to a touch of honey, (i gave up all refined and artifical sweeteners and lost all cravings for sweets as a result *S*).
This means i know any sugar i am getting is from the fruits and veg i am eating, which is all good imho, so i don't worry about it.. i don't overdo the fruit either.0 -
I had not paid any attention to sugar until this week because I don't eat sweets. I can't believe how easy it is to go over the MFP limit. One cup of milk and an apple and that's it for the day!0

Sugar in ingredients is very misleading. For example, starches are simple sugars but are counted as carbs, not sugars, even though their effect is that of a sugar.
Glucose and dextrose, and the fuel of life and very good for your body (becoming glycogen with very little effort). Their only drawback is they, like all sugar, come with calories. Of about 100 calories of these sugars, very few will become triglcerides in your blood, which is basically blood born fat cells. This is the reason glucose and dextrose are chosen by bodybuilders and athletes as part of their recovery protein drink.
Fructose and sucrose, are not the fuel of life, and require much work by the body to convert to glycogen. About a full third of fructose and sucrose that you eat, has to be dealt with directly by the liver and a great deal of that becomes triglycerides. Triglycerides, if you wish to research, are plain evil especially for those trying to lose weight.
All types of sugar (and carbs) trigger insulin production, and ingesting to much of ANY type of carb, over time as a result, is going to lead to insulin resistance. Making it harder to lose pounds. Possibly leading to metabolic syndrome.
Fructose, the sugar that is driving up your number if you are eating lots of fruit, is a bad form of sugar as explained, however, when it comes as part of a whole fruit ( and I do mean WHOLE, not juiced, not juice from concentrate ) it comes along with pretty much everything your body needs to cope with it. For example, apples have fibre which is the natural balancer of the fructose they contain, apple juice though? Not so much. May as well drink a cola.
So, while the advise you can ignore sugar if its from fruits and vegetables seems simple, there is good reason for it. God or the creator or whoever you please was very smart, and generally if something cooked in nature's oven and untouched by man and eaten whole has something not so good in it, it also contains the antidote.
Having said all that, I would worry more about your total carb count, and not just your sugar. As explained, starches do not even register as a sugar depending on the tool and under most food labels. And they are really about as bad as fructose.
Obviously if you have diabetes this is another matter entirely.

I check it on occasion as my doctor has told me to limit my sugar intake, but I'm also on Metformin to help regulate it. When I do check it, yeah I'm almost always over but I don't sweat it because MOST times its from fruit0

Mine is consistently high. I'm not eating fruit for another 2 weeks, and today I'm only over 2 points. I'm going to have to check my yogurt before I buy another container since that's the problem with mine. I know where it is, so I'm now limiting it. Sugar is in everything. If it ends in "tose" as in fructose, dextrose, or listed as maltitol, it's sugar. Also, it doesn't matter if it's cane sugar, or beet sugar - It's still the same thing.0

My sugar intake is always over sometimes as much as 40-50 for the day. I check my sugars regularly though and my actual blood sugars are staying normal. Sodium intake is my killer... if I over do it on that it completely throws my body out of wack for a couple days.0

I never even look at my sugar personally. I really only worry about Calories, Protein, Carbs, and Sodium. I think the sugar limit on here is pretty low and I eat a lot of fruit and dairy which add up quickly. I still lose weight without watching it, so I don't worry about it.0

I am ALWAYS over on sugar! Sugars, Fats, and Sodium. Leave it to the fruits and nuts! LOL0

I'm always over on sugar so I ignore it now. I think MFP needs to increase it for everyone because it's almost impossible to be at that level every day.0

Sometimes I think all this counting is counter productive. I lost more weight before I joined MFP than since. Before I started I didn't count anything, not calories, sugar, sodium, protein, water, nothing. I just ate what I knew was healthy food (plus my wine) and drank something when I got thirsty and I lost 21 lbs. I've been doing that all my life when I got a little chubby. IDK if it's slowed because I don't have much left to lose or because I'm just thinking about it too much now.0 -
Sometimes, but rarely and never for huge numbers. I am very conscience of staying under my micros. I have occasional slips but not that often.0
