Count me in ....I have been gaining and losing since my kids! Couldn't find the time to fit it all in. I started the gym now and added this site and it made a world of difference. I lost 15 of my 70 ...I need and want to lose. Great place to be for support and encouragement! It has been a tough 2 weeks I must say...I need to figure out why!!0

How is everyone doing? Not doing to bad myself but I have a question to ask and this will depend on how much weight you have to lose as to whether or not it is applicable. It may also have to do with the fact that I was diagnosed in February '11 with a thyroid disorder... but I'm not sure. At my heaviest, my face and neck were quite round and heavy looking. As I lose weight, I notice that my cheeks and the sides of my face as well as my neck are slimming down but the area under my chin and my jawline hasn't changed much at all... still leaving me with a heavy, double-chin look. Does this go away and slim down at some point during your weight loss or is this an aging issue? Apart from this issue (which is a big concern), I am very happy with my progress thus far. Looking forward to your responses.0

Count me in, please. I've done this all before (lost over a hundred pounds), and let me tell you, it moved faster when I was 15 than it does at 45.

Count me in as well. I'm 41 and have been dealing with Menopause for the past 14 years. (Had a full hysterectomy @ 28) I have noticed a difference since I have turned 40 though. Yes I agree, it is harder at 40 than it is in your teens, 20's or even 30's. I have currently joined a gym and am doing yoga once a week. Hoping for some change. :happy:0

Welcome to our newest members jenny_fur, cathyg18, Thriceshy, and hopeforsuccess. I hope we can all trade good information here and friend each other for support.
I used to lose weight easily, but these past few years it has been challenging, especially now. I have been really working it hard this week adding in 10,000 steps per day to make sure that my new work at home lifestyle isn't holding me back anymore. It's been a little discouraging since I am seeing no changes so far since I started. I decided to measure myself this week to see if anything budges even if the scale doesn't. I'll remeasure on Sunday.
I have never had to deal with a plateau situation from the beginning. I usually lose weight quickly at first. I've had all the medical tests too, so not sure what is going on.
If any of you have had trouble losing weight from the start and have found a solution, please let me know. I may end up buying that herbal formula I found online called Zalustra 90 if nothing is working after all this hard work.0 -
you can add me, too. i just turned 40 a month ago. i'm so ready to get this extra weight off!0

I'd love to be a part of this group too. I am a 41 year old mother of 3. My weight issues slowly built up with each child, I never got back to my pre pregnancy weight before the next child and then gained more. I just loved to eat when I was pregnant. Finally decided that it was time to lose the "baby fat"... tho Im sure since they are 16,13 and 12 I really cant call it that lol! No more excuses.
Please friend me too!0 -
Thank you jarrettd and brandiuntz for joining us.
I was curious, how often do you weigh yourself? I am attempting to only weigh once a week so I don't get discouraged if my weight fluctuates.
It's been tough this week, and I don't feel like I have lost any weight despite continuing efforts. We shall see on Sunday (weigh day).
I weigh every day - same time & same clothes - but I don't log it until I see the same weight for 3 days in a row. Then i know it's sticking. I don't get too discouraged (only a little) by the fluctuations, but since a hysterectomy 7 years ago (at age 41) I don't fluctuate as much as I used to. Getting on the scale every day keeps me honest. When I'm on maintenance, I don't want to suddenly see 3 or 4 pounds up. that's happened a few times when I was only weighing every week or so - like over the holidays - and I don't want to wait that long anymore to get a wake-up call.0 -
Hi there,
Please add me as well. I am 43 and have two children. I seem to be unable to shed those stubborn last pounds! I am based in the UK and have come across Maryon Steward who is known for her healthy/alternative approach to 'surviving' menopause. She has her own website. I have just checked and her books are available on Amazon.com as well. How about Christian Northrup; she seems to write about menopause as well.0 -
Count me in to please!!
Also in the UK and 43 and had 4 children in my 20's and NEVER had a problem with weight. Got into my late 30's and the weight started creeping on.
Had my 5th child at 39 and weighed pre-pregnancy much more than before even after giving birth.
Metabolism has certainly slowed down and it's so frustrating. I feel like I eat much less than I use to when I was younger, I use to eat loads of chocolate, I wouldn't dare nowdays. My real downfall is wine and nights out socialising.
I try to look at it this way, even though my metabolism is slowing down I am aware of this and with this site I can still have a little control. I just imagine how big I would be if I didn't use this site, I didn't exercise and I ate what i wanted when I wanted all day long... that's NOT going to happen.

All I can say is menepause SUX!!! I have lost 155 lbs but since this ugly creature has reared these homones and hot flashes in my body I don't feel like exercise and I can't keep the sweets/carbs out of my face! Help me - please feel free to add me and I need support and I am here for any of you guys!0

Can I please join as well? I will try to check in here daily.
I lost a significant amount of weight a few years ago. Then, I had an injury and 4 months of PT and have packed 20+ pounds back on. I found out this week my BP is up for the first time ever in my life. GRRRRRR.
Anyway, I am 44 and a mom to 3 kids. Married to a great guy who loves me just how I am but I need to do this for me.
I started on this site yesterday and started tracking calories and exercise daily.
Question-do I now add you all as friends? Is that how this works?
Thanks!0 -
Happy Friday Ladies
Hope everyone is having a great day!0 -
Hi. I'd love to join this discussion group. Please add me in.0

I'd like to join this group too. I am 46 and a mother of two wonderful daughters that I adopted from China. I work full time as an engineer.
When I was 33, I lost 92 pounds (only 20 pounds shy of my goal) and it only took me 4 years to gain it all back, plus a little more. I have been on MFP for over 3 weeks and just this Sunday I converted to a whole foods plant-based diet (basically low-fat vegan) after getting a major wake-up call when I watched the movie "Forks Over Knives". I am already feeling so much better and I am almost over the dairy addiction.0 -
OMG!! Please count me in, I am sooo struggling right nw xx have been dieting since my first baby 13 years ago and been upannd down since then xx I hav a broken foot at the mo, so 6lbs in a month is a very slow loss xx Good luck all yoou fab ladies xxx0
-
eillss44 - I broke my foot last year and gained about 15 pounds from not being able to do much for 9 months. I know what you are going through. Even working out while sitting didn't help so much. Our metabolisms go down too. Although 6 1bs in a month is actually decent. It's been almost a month of intense workouts and I have only lost 1 lb. You are doing pretty good!
Thanks everyone for joining. You can simply post to join in on the fun!0 -
