Mu understanding is that you cant target fat loss. it will lose as a whole, but I don't think there is something you can do on your own to actually target specific part of your body. What I have been doing is muscle work out on the specific part, but I don't think that was even significant.

You can't spot reduce. You have to create a calorie deficit and lose fat from all over.

If you could spot reduce my hips would not be 4 sizes smaller than the rest of me.

Unfortunately, we cannot spot reduce fat. We can work on strengthening and, with proper nutrition, building specific muscles. To lose fat from your hips, eat in a caloric deficit, which means eating fewer calories than you burn. You can do that by eating less, moving more (all physical activity burns calories), or a combination. Keep in mind that if you are genetically programmed to have a certain body shape, you will not be able to change your overall genetics but you can optimize your shape/look/fitness level.

I've lost three inches from my hips since July by eating less and moving more, specifically swimming, gardening (in season) and walking, hiking, and yoga.

If you find a way, send some to me. It's the first place I lose and frankly I'm feeling kinda hipless these days!

It's awful isn't it. Where did my hourglass go?

I'm a 21 bmi but going by hip waist ratio I'm obese....

You can't spot reduce (unless you're using liposuction), the weight will come off wherever it wants to first (a lot of it is based on genetics), but you can do exercises to help increase muscle tone in those areas which can make the areas look nicer.

Eat at a deficit. I have wide hips, pear shape but I have lost inches due to eating at a deficit, eating enough protein to prevent muscle loss & lifting heavy. I've built muscle in my shoulders so now I look more balanced. If your hip bones are wide you can't change that but you can lose fat.
