Tried to send PM but the system won't let me (technical error) so I'll post it here
It's simple: Put your information into MFP. Get a target number of calories to intake. Eat them and lose weight.
When you enter your information into MFP, it asks you how much you want to lose (or gain) per week. Then it AUTOMATICALLY calculates the calorie deficit needed to achieve that goal, and gives you a target number of calories to eat. It's already built in, already figured, no need to be confused.0 -
Great advice from phrick- MFP calculates it all for you! Super easy
Just to clear things up incase you dont understand it fully- a calorie deficit means eating less calories than you burn (often referred to as CICO- Calories In Calories Out). Your body burns a certain amount of calories a day just to function and stay the weight you are, this number depends on various things such as height, weight, activity level etc.
Now say for example your maintenance calories was 2000 calories a day- if you eat 2000 calories every day you will stay the same weight. To create a deficit, you need to eat less than this- so by eating 500 calories less a day (so 1500) you will lose 1lb a week. Put as simply as possible, if you eat less calories your body still needs to find that energy to function- meaning it takes it from fat, causing you to lose weight (ie lose fat).
I know this isn't the most scientific explanation but I figured sometimes it helps to have it explained as simply as possible0
