Using calories from exercise

Hi guys- I'm new to MFP but not dieting! I want to lose 2lbs a week and MFP suggests 1200 cals a day to achieve this. However when I log exercise it tells me how many cals I've burned and adds these to my daily allowNce. Does that mean that I could / should eat these extra calories or stick to 1200 no matter what I do? Thanks for any suggestions X

If you get your calorie goal from MFP, it's designed for you to eat those calories back. Many people find that the calories estimated for workouts by MFP are over-estimates, so they only eat back 25-75% of exercise calories to account for this.

Yeah I always just eat back half my calories. And can I ask how much weight your looking to lose vs what your weight/height is now? 2 lbs seems pretty ambiguous

Yeah well I'm 5,6 and weigh 12 st 4. I want to lose around 2 stone. I'm finding 1200 hard to stick to and I'm not losing much either :-(

Aggressive goals (like 2 pounds a week) give you lower calorie targets. If you find it hard to stick to your calories, consider a more reasonable weight loss goal.

I'm 11st11lbs and are at a 1200kcal deficit too, but aiming for 1.5lb a week loss.. If I'm hungry I will eat around 50% of exercise cal back if I'm not I save them for an extra loss.. if you find it hard to stick to would recommend upping your goals, if your determined to stick to the 1200 look at changing some of the foods your eating to make you feel fuller for longer. I have Eggs for breakfast most days which keep me fill for ages.
