Hello
I've been using a packet of sweetner in my coffee 3 times a day for about 4 months now and recently I crave sweets really bad , for me this is very weird because I don't have a sweet tooth but i thought using that instead of sugar would help ...
I'm basically eating sweets all day long !
It fits in my calories but all the 1400 cals consists of mainly sweets !
Help !

I've always heard that artificial sweeteners make you crave sugar more...
I don't use it for that reason.
    Has anyone else heard this?
Can u try a natural sugar and see if it makes a difference?
    Or drink with only cream?

What can be said? You know that you need to make better choices, so it's up to you to make them. Maybe fruit instead of candy?

    What exactly is the problem?

There's nothing inherently bad about artificial sweeteners, and they can sometimes satisfy a sweet tooth craving for little to no calories.

Some people do have weird reactions (causing headaches or weird aftertastes, etc) but if you aren't experiencing any of those issues, I'm not sure what the problem is.

I've heard the same.. That AS causes sugar cravings. Something about the brain tasting sweet, but the body not receiving actual sugar so goes looking for it, something like that....

It doesn't make me crave sugar. It satisfies my sweet tooth most of the time

Keep carbs below 100 grams/day. Use natural Stevia instead of the artificial junk.

I hate artificial sweeteners of all kinds. But only because they're completely disgusting and I practically have to ingest toothpaste to get the taste out of my mouth... (I know it's a me thing)

That being said, there isn't anything wrong with sugar, and there isn't anything wrong with artificial sweeteners. Pick the one that makes you happy, use that, make it fit your goals. There's really nothing more to say about it.

If you've been doing it for 4 months and only recently started having cravings, I really don't see the correlation.

So did you cut sugar out altogether to do this? If so, then this may be your issue.

But it is easier to blame something than take responsibility for eating sweets

I use artificial sweeteners. I do not crave sweets. Most of my pounds and cheats are of the savory variety.

I use sweetener every day to little consequence. If you're going to indulge in the cravings do it in a healthy manner. Fruit and yogurts. Maybe a piece of chocolate here and there. There's plenty of ice cream that is decent calorie wise. Or eat food that will you full for longer.

Stevia, erythritol, and sugar cane. Others I don't recommend.

Would you like to give reasons for this recommendation, or are people just supposed to blindly follow?

how does the rest of your diet look? I tend to crave foods when I highly restrict the foods I enjoy. When I incorporate things into my diet that I enjoy, I crave things less.

Wait, so your doctor is suggesting that artificial sweeteners cause your yeast infection or that your cravings where from the yeast infection?

I've used artificial sweetener in my hot drinks and on my cereals for years. I can't honestly say that I crave sweet stuff. I use the product to help me, if I feel I need to get through the next hour before dinner time, I have a large milky coffee with sweetner. It's all personal preference, this works well for me xx

I've heard the same as above, but I never really focused on it. I use Stevia, which is a natural sweetener (plant based). AF's actually give me headaches, so I don't use them for that, but Stevia doesn't... butttt, I never craved sweets from either AFs or stevia, so I'm not sure if it'll help you with that?? Either way, no harm in trying.

If you really don't want to use sugar, you could try using honey in your coffee instead of AFs. It tastes yummy, and there shouldn't be a problem with adding the extra calories from honey if it helps prevent a 1300 day of sweets, right?

Edit: Seeing your post now that it was from an infection... that's crazy, I had no idea that could happen. Glad your feeling better though!
