Put 44 lbs. of something in a backpack and carry it for just a couple of minutes, or up the stairs. You'll see why your knees and back are thanking you for your weight loss so far. Keep up the good work. It will only get better!0
-
I NEVER thought about it that way......My daughter is 44 pounds! OUCH!
Thank you!0 -
I have the same problem. It seems easier to gain than lose weight. But losing 44 pounds in 8 weeks is outstanding! The journey may seem like forever but in the end it's going to be so worth it! Keep up the hard work. Chin up and be proud of what you've accomplished so far:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0

Whoa! At 5+ pounds a week I would say it is totally happening! Slow down and enjoy the ride! It is your time, and I have no doubt you will achieve your goals! What, may I ask, have you been doing?? That is impressive work!0

I agree with Singer -- i was feeling similar recently as we all want it done now now now .. right?? but its a slow process.. so just to give my own mind some perspective.. when I went into the walmart I picked up a 30lb bag of dog food and just carried that up and down the isle (needed to buy it for my dog too) -- but you get the idea.. it made me think Wow I can't believe this is what 30lbs feels like.. so just keep it up.. 44lbs is AWESOME -- keep it up --0

Thank you for your nice words! Just eating better and staying VERY active! I cut out pop too...Thanks again!0

Or try carrying 9 (5lb) bags of potatoes out of a grocery store! And how good it would feel to put them down! That's what you've done. YAY YOU!!0

When I'm feeling bummed about the slow changes, I pick up my daughter. I've lost as much as she weighs. Puts things in perspective.0

It took me 1 year and 6 months to lose 30 pounds. 44 pounds in 8 weeks is phenomenal! Celebrate your success and know that everyone is cheering for you. You are proof that it CAN be done with dedication!!! Congrats!0 -
If you have not already done it - make sure you do it NOW!!
Take some very honest "fat photos", and take all your measurements, and then re-do them every month.....
In the moments you feel depressed go back to them and remind yourself what you have achieved - and how different you look - and will keep on looking as you get further down the track!!0 -
You are kickin' it BIG TIME. Like the goodner said, slow down and enjoy the ride. If you keep up this pace you will eventually burn yourself out and once you do that, it's hard to get back on track. I know I was like you a year ago and just quit one day. It took over a year to get back on here.0

44 pounds is an amazing amount to lose in only 8 weeks!! Wow!0
-
All I have to do is jump in the jeep and see how far my belly is from the steering wheel to make me happy.0

Michelle, I am so jealous of where you are already! I'm just starting and can't even begin to dream of losing 44 pounds. It's like it's not possible. I can't visualize it just yet. But you give me hope--wow in just 8 weeks. Imagine what we can look like in a year!!! Even if it takes 2 years, it's worth it!!!!!! Just grit your teeth and keep on keepin on! You will be a hot mama in no time!!!0

Hey, there, have totally gone through the same thing, where you've accomplished something but have a long way to go and are not sure you can ever get there. What helped me was 1) celebrating my successes, like everyone here is saying (good to reward yourself for mini-goals), 2) realizing that I didn't put on my weight overnight and wasn't going to take it off that way either, and 3) slowly but surely seeing what I was doing as a lifestyle / journey rather than a diet or a race toward a goal, at which point I'd be "done." Think about it this way - if you weren't doing MFP, what would you be doing? Eating junk and gaining back your weight. So, just settle in and keep it up, you'll get there as long as you stick with it!0
-
Create a gratitude journal and everyday write down some things that you're thankful for(strength in your body, friends, a will to lose weight, MFP friends, breath in your lungs, a heart that beats every second, etc) -this will help you to keep a POSITIVE focus and perspective. I do this, and it really helps especially when you have a LOT of weight to lose like I do(140lbs):) You are AMAZING--DONT EVER, EVER, EVER, give up!0

Thanks everyone! I haven't taken any pics yet.....but I joined the gym 4 weeks ago...got measured after a month and lost 12.5 inches....that was so exciting. I just need to STOP thinking about what I have to do yet and think about what I have done! Thanks everyone for making me see this! Just the lift that I needed tonight! That's why I LOVE this site!0
-
LOL.......That's so GREAT! Lol....Good for you!0

I am so hearing you! I have lost 50 + and I still feel awful about myself all to often. I am always telling myself now ''Rome wasn't built in one day. '' You want something strong and beautiful? It stars with the mind. So you need that drive, you need to keep pushing even when times get really really tough. I know it's not easy but hang in there! You can do this!0

I agree with ehilgeman, break your total weight loss goal in to smaller mini-goals. That's what I did when 30 pounds sounded too daunting. Be realistic about them and set target dates to achieve each one. When you are just focusing on 1-2 pounds per week to reach another 10 pound loss in a month or two, it's easier to focus on and celebrate when you get there. Then do it again for the next phase. I suggestion not treating or rewarding yourself with food though. Do something nice for yourself like a massage, mani/pedi, jewelry, clothing, shoes, etc. It will make you feel good where food will just leave you feeling guilty and may cause a setback. You're doing a fantastic job!0

Trust me, I understand how you feel as I sometimes find myself doubting myself...You are entitled to your feelings, however don't let them impede upon your progress. Don't look at how far you have to go, appreciate how far you've come!
You are much more healthier, fit and sexy than you were this time last year! Appreciate your effort and rejoice in your hard work! :flowerforyou:0 -
Thank you so much! And you look GREAT btw!0

I read your bio and perhaps you need to remember the blessings already in your life. Your, hubby, the lover of your life. And your 2 daughters. You are also are blessed to stay home with them. Remember what you have. Embrace each day with enthusiasm and remember all you have is what's going on in the present.0
-
I read somewhere that 5 pounds of fat lost is equivalent in size to a loaf of bread. When I was getting down about the 30 pounds I've lost over the last year and a half I found that visualizing it as 6 loaves of bread removed from body it really helped. You've lost the volume of 9 loaves of bread off your body and that has to be a significant change worth celebrating! As others have said, break your goal into smaller mini goals and it will become more managable.0

My husband put it into perspective to me when I lost 40 lbs 4 years ago: imagine carrying almost 9 (5lb) bags of flour around with you! You can do this, you obviously are doing this. It is for YOU and your health, not anyone else!0
-
Next time you're at the store - pick up one of the 40 lb bags of water softener salt.
Instant motivation0 -
It's easy to feel this way when we live in a society that says I WANT IT NOW! However, we must understand that the longer it takes to shed, the more likely we are to keep it off because we are developing consistency, discipline and a HEALTHY lifestyle, which will govern our future decisions. I get frustrated too, but I remember how it took me over 20 years to put this weight on, so realistically, I am winning, if I can get the excess weight off in less than 20 years! So, take a look around...there are a lot of people that have yet to hit double digits and you are well on your way to the triples! Be encouraged and remember that this is a healthy lifestyle, not just about weight.0
-
your current weight loss is MAJOR!! you have essentially lost a 4yr old in weight! again MAJOR! to put it in perspective, it takes some people a YEAR to accomplish what you've done in EIGHT WEEKS. Also, the weight didn't show up overnight, it will take time for it to leave.
YOU ARE DOING AN AMAZING JOB!0 -
Thanks everyone! I love how encouraging everyone is! I sure feel better this morning...I also cant stop thinking about all the ways to compare what I have lost to Bread...and salt bags...That's just crazy to think about.......I just had to get some salt last week and I remember how heavy it was,....wow!!!!0

go to petco, and look for a bag of dog food that's around 40-50 pounds, and just pick it up for a second..
that's how much weight is POOF!! off your body.0
