Almond cream oatmeal - 30g+ of protein
I've been craving an almond croissant but don't want to use that kind of calories, so I decided to play around a little... I found a recipe for 'almond croissant oatmeal' but didn't want to use up so many calories in sugar, so this is what I came up with... Very filling, delicious, not quite the same thing but helped with my craving!
40g steel cut oats
20g almond powder
1 egg
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used Quest)
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tbsp butter (you can omit it if you want to save calories)
Cook the oats and almonds (on stove). When almost done, whip in an egg until it's cooked through. Add almond extract and butter. Stir.
Remove from heat, add protein powder, mix, and enjoy.
Mine was 530 calories, 32g carbs, 29g fat, 24g protein.

So you crave a croissant but came up with NOTHING like a croissant to satisfy the cravings.... hmmmmmmm.
Again, I have said this once and I will say it again. If you were really craving THE CROISSANT you would have a proper croissant from a nice french bakery. Otherwise nope.
Here you came up with something, I bet it tastes great its just not a croissant at all lol
Yeah it's what I do typically, lol. And I know the perfect bakery too. I just don't want to spend 500+ calories on that today... wanted something more nutritious with less sugar and more protein.
To be fair, it's mostly the almond filling that I was craving (so it could have been a danish or a galette or whatever), so this actually worked. Notice I didn't say 'almond croissant' oatmeal in the title0 -
530 calories for oatmeal? I think I'd rather just eat the croissant.0

Hey, she came up with something tasty and wanted to share.
I am with you, though: I would have split the croissant and ate halves over two days. I do that with doughnuts all the time...0 -

Eh. I love croissants. But some days I'd rather have something that will keep me full longer. And starting the day with sugar is often (for me) a recipe for disaster for the rest of the day... so if I have a croissant, it will be for a snack later.
Obviously though.. you can skip the butter and that makes it 430 calories, vs 600+ for a croissant.jessicarae0316 wrote: »530 calories for oatmeal? I think I'd rather just eat the croissant.

Thanks.
However, half a croissant would keep me full for maybe.. 30 minutes? lol. Plus they get stale fast and it makes me sad LOL.
I can make my own croissants, but they're like 340 calories a piece... add almond cream and you're looking at close to 700 calories, lol. Not something I can fit in most days... whole steel cut oats are very filling to me.0
