Eat whatever you want as long as it's in your breakfast,
You can eat as much as you want as long as you exercise,
You can eat whatever you want as long as it's before 8 pm ,
You can eat whatever you want as long as you drink green tea after it,
Eat as much as you want as long as it's homemade,
You are gaining weight cause you sit all day-just walk after eating,
You have a stomach because you sleep right after eating,
Do not drink water after a meal- (this one I still do not do-I wait 20-30 mins before consuming water)
My body is naturally big,
My body is naturally skinny and I can't put on weight,
Diet doesn't really matter for average people- just exercise,
You don't need to exercise this much just walk after eating your meals,
Stop eating sugar,
Stop eating carbs,
You don't need much protein cause you are not going to be a bodybuilder,
Just drink sodas with 0% sugar or 0% fat
It wasn't until I joined MFP 2016 January 4 -I was one of the above- lol I tried everything and nothing worked. Then I learned about calories in calories out and Voila !
I'm grateful to have you girls/guys here.

I'm sitting here reading this after just finishing my lunch. As I read I'm drinking a bottle of water. I've never heard not to drink water after you eat.
But I have heard most of these. I'm glad I finally realized that counting calories does work and that I can basically eat whatever I want. I just can't eat as much as I did before. And the more I lose the less I want to eat stuff that won't get me to my goal. I still love sweets, but I'm more likely to choose Greek yogurt which is a good source of protein over candy which isn't.0 -

Drinking water before a meal helps and after eating food it harms- no scientific research I've seen on this matter but I've heard this and now it's just a habit lol
Some things hold truth-like carbs coming from bread vs banana- has to do with glycemic index and all-still haven't learned those entirely lol0 -
That's funny. I started drinking the water before I ate. I just didn't finish it until after I ate. Too late now.
It is funny that so many people want a quick trick to lose weight and don't want the hassle of counting calories. But really once you start doing it it is really easy. And to me it is much easier than cutting out whole food groups or worrying about meal timing.0 -
CICO isn't sexy or headline grabbing. It just plods along being the reality, science based logic behind all that woo.
Well done for working it out!

One my mom still says is the only way to lose weight is to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day, calories don't matter. Which we all know is wrong.0

oh yeah I forgot that one. I did that too -"your body goes catabolic if you don't keep feeding it every couple of hours" -lol
another one
you need to eat a big meal before bed time so -during sleep body doesn't get deprived of nutrients otherwise say good bye to gains.
you need protein shake within 30 mins or say good bye to gym gains0 -
"All the women on our side of the family look like this. It's genetic." - my mom
No - it's because we eat too much.
And it only took me about 40 years to figure that out. Thanks mom.0 -
"Once a woman gets into her twenties, her metabolism slows down and she gains weight. It's all downhill from here. Enjoy your early twenties while they last because women gain five pounds per year as they age. By thirty, your metabolism is screwed unless you have good genetics/are naturally thin."
I'm 31, 110.2 pounds and that's the lightest I've been since I was 11 years old...LOL. I look way better now than I did in my twenties.0 -

The women thing I still believed dammit
I really thought women body worked differently?
I guess the universal law that applies at everyone is Calories in calories out other variables can vary.
For example- where one stores fat right?0 -

this isnt true. carb source does not matter for weight loss....you may feel fuller or less groggy with carbs coming from more nutrient dense sources than carbs coming from candy...but for weight loss its irrelevant.

"You'll get fat after you have kids."
"Enjoy being thin while you can, it won't last."
My mother never, right up to her dying day, forgave me for never getting fat.0 -
Stop eating sugar is one I truly believe in. Lab-made sugars are bad.0
