Just Getting Serious

Hello, I'm just getting serious with a diet. I went to the doctor's clinic and they said that I am overweight. I'm 4"11 and 129 lbs. I would like to be 100 lbs. Any words of encouragement? I'm seriously going to not eat any added sugar or refined carbs for at least 3 months. I've been on and off of myfitnesspal for awhile. One thing I find difficult is to actually reach the 1,200 calorie goal because I've always heard that I should only eat if I am hungry.

I think 100 pounds sounds too thin, did the doctor give you a range for your height. You may not need to lose as much as you think. When I first got serious I had to cut back on carbs because I was eating too many of them and everything else. I think by saying completely no refined carbs or sugar for 3 months, may be too strict and it tends to make people throw in the towel and quit. As for as 1200 calories, it adds up pretty quick. How many calories have you been eating?

I've been eating around 1,000. But whenever I eat junk food, I'm sure it goes over that. I actually went 10 days without added sugar or refined carbs. I really believe, if I have the willpower, I can overcome the addiction of sugar. Even studies have shown that sugar is as addictive as cocaine. I calculated my body fat percentage as 26% currently. I looked at the BMI chart and 100 lbs is right in the middle for the healthy body weight range.

Hey, I used to weigh 117 lbs last year in April. I remember specifically what I ate at that time to drop from 120 to 117 in maybe little over a week. I had yogurt and fruit for breakfast, broccoli for lunch, broccoli and veggie burger for dinner. I know that is drastically under 1,000 calories but I never felt hungry. I'm kind of on the fence about whether I should go back to that diet or try to at least eat 1,000 calories.
