How much have you fluctuated from 1 day to the next day?

I weigh weekly, but this week I've been getting on the scale almost everyday. It is scary to think my weight fluctuates this much during the week... I mean I really hope it is just fluctuation and not a big gain.
I weigh on Thursdays, Saturday I was down 1lb and Sunday I was down 1.5lb (total from Thursday). Sunday I went over a little, 300cals, but I had pizza for dinner that was a sodium killer. I get up today and am up 5lb from Thursday!!! That's almost a 7lb fluctuation from Sunday to Monday... I'm sure a lot is water, but 7lbs?!?!?! Really!
I'm drinking a lot of water between now and Thursday and making sure I stay on plan, probably will throw in some green tea as well... I hope to have lost by then, but at least not have gained!
So biggest you've seen in weight fluctuation from one day to the next?

Up to 2lbs.0

When I eat really bad and drink a lot of soda one day, and then eat better the next... I often have a difference of up to 5-7lbs.1
-
7 lbs isn't unrealistic for water gain. Drink 100+ ounces of water throughout the day and just keep going/going/going. I bet you'll see at least half of that drop by the next day.
The worst I've had was 5-6 lbs. That's after eating pizza, popcorn, chips, etc oh and Soda. Soda will kill the weight as well and keep all that sodium in you.0 -
Ive never seen more than 2 on myself.0
-
Yeah, forgot about the soda. It was diet dr pepper, but over the course of the afternoon and evening I think I finished a 2ltr bottle.
I'm up to 8 cups so far on my water, so I should be able to hit the 100oz mark today...0 -
There was a point last week where I was having sleeping trouble and losing multiple pounds a day... I think I was sick though, so extenuating circumstances... Although I haven't gotten more than half a pound of that back. It was weird0
-
You're body is just probably holding on to it, so you should be able to flush yourself with the water pretty easily.0

i can fluctuate anywhere from 1 to 5 pounds.0
-
About five pounds fluctuation is what I experience.0
-
I lost 10 pounds one day. It was all water weight. I felt like I peed 30 times that day.0

Don't fret ! My scale has fluctuated 8 lbs in a day before ( water retention- sodium intake-female time of the month ) so don't let this discourage you. Its normal.1 -
I recommend tracking your weight in an app called Libra. It lets you see the trend without getting overwhelmed by the day to day fluctuations. I can gain/lose 2# from one day to the next, apx 5 around my period. I weigh daily, as it keeps me accountable and on track.2

When I eat badly, say for example pizza and beer, anywhere upto like 1.5kg.0
-
Up to 2 kg (4.5 pounds)0

I vary about 4lbs over the course of a day, I now weigh myself about 3 times a day! I only record it once but it really is getting a bit bad! I am now hiding my scales to stop me doing this!0
-
This morning it was up like 7 lbs probably from the weekend, alcohol and pizza can really mess with the scale! At least im hoping0
-
From last night and today I went from 201.8 to 199.8. Although it can vary from what I eat. Sometimes it goes as high as 204 but I always lose it when I drink loads of water.0
-
I can weigh up to 5lbs different each day.0
-
I can swing incredibly fast...I lost 6 pounds from a Sunday evening to a Tuesday morning (around 30 hours) once. I've also gained 8 pounds over a weekend. I think I bloat really easily from too much salt or carbs.0
-
Usually within 2 pounds but my record is 6 pounds, both on days after Chinese takeout (Three year daily weigher and charter here @ 197)0

I think seven pounds in a week is my largest ever fluctuation.
It's never permanent (not to say that it can't be masking an upward trend, which is WHY I weigh daily, but if it fluctuates up seven pounds overnight, it will drop back down by 7 at some point soon).
Graphs are my friend.1 -
If you have been restricting your calories through dieting (and therefore eating fewer carbohydrates) and then you eat a high carbohydrate meal, then you will almost always see a spike in weight on the morning following the day on which you consumed more carbohydrates. Your body tries to make up it's depleted glycogen stores. Glycogen is bound with water, so you will experience a gain in water weight.
To avoid large fluctuations in your weight, you can try to make your carbohydrate consumption more even throughout the week.
Try going back through your diary and figuring out how many grams of carbohydrate you eat for an average of X days. Then, on the day after any day in which you eat a lot more than that average, just don't weigh yourself. Or, weigh yourself, but do it with the knowledge that your weight will have spiked because of a higher than normal carbohydrate consumption.0 -
I weigh in every Friday. This eliminates the fluctuations you see through the week. It will give you a more realistic weight & remove the stress of worrying about the losses & gains through the week. Also I am like most & for one reason or another loose a bit of self control on the weekends so I don't bother to check on Monday because I know it will be bad... LOL1

It doesn't eliminate the fluctuations. It may mask them. It may not.
You can catch yourself at a low weight on a Friday one week. But perhaps the next Friday you catch yourself at a high weight. You can mistakenly conclude that you made no progress, or worse, that you gained, when your average weight is actually trending down.
I, personally, weigh on a daily basis and calculate a trend line using a weighted moving average.
There are apps and web sites that will do this for you, like trendweight.com or Happy Scales (app).

Out of curiosity in the past I've weighed myself first thing in the morning at 119.5lbs, and finished off the day at 124.
Certain times of the month it's not out of the ordinary for my weight to fluctuate within 7lbs in a week without any real change in my behaviour.1 -
mine fluctuates daily up to 7 pounds1
-
Ugh, mine has went up by 10 before. Usually after the weekend when I have not drank much water.0
-
I can fluctuate several pounds a day but my record is 12 lbs. I weighed right before a several mile hike and then also weighed next morning and I was up 12lbs. It was all gone within a few days.
I only weighed myself then out of curiosity . I don't worry about few up and down daily since I know when I'm in a deficit and confident a true loss will show soon.0 -
I don't generally fluctuate a lot, but I can fluctuate anywhere from 3-5 Lbs...most of my fluctuations are 1-2 Lbs...but like today I'm up about 5 Lbs from yesterday which is attributable to the fact that I took my kids to the movies yesterday and we shared a big salty buttery popcorn and I also had a hot dog...lots of sodium.0
