You have a sensible breakfast and lunch (well... tried something new for lunch & it tasted like crap) and it's the 3 pm munchies getting to me I'm sure, I'm simply eating a (horrible) snack, (I'm usually prepared, but haven't made it to the store yet) I know it's wrong, and I know I'll have to pay for it later, even though I don't want to, but I still have the snack anyway. (I'll admit while I had it, I absolutely enjoyed it)

Is that lack of willpower or being stubborn to yourself?

And of course afterwards, I'm thinking you dumb dumb idiot! :explode:

Anybody got any strategies they use to get thru those moments?

Like I said, I'm usually prepared, just haven't made it to the store yet.

I say don't beat yourself up. Like you said, this is an exception. Just don't use it as an excuse to blow the rest of your day!
  • Dive headfirst into success stories or forums here... or look @ goal pictures (i.e. I set my profile picture so i can see my goal every time Im here).

I get in trouble if i go home before a workout. Chocolate covered almonds? Ok.. Ill have 10..then 10 more... then.. yeah. So, I don't go home. Figure out how to trick yourself :)

I saw a quote recently: We dont fail because we can't reach our goals, but because we're more concerned with what we want NOW rather than what we want for a goal.." or something like that

Take the hit and move on, I was tackled by a slice of Marie Callender's Lemon Merigue pie yesterday, I enjoyed the moment, went home and walked for an hour, didn't make for the pie but it was step in the right direction..

I am right with you on the 3:00 p.m. munchies! I had Subway at lunch and purposely didn’t get a bag of chips with it, because I knew I would eat them as soon as I got back to the office, even though I was full. I have a snack between breakfast and lunch most days, but try not to snack between lunch and dinner so that I can have an ice cream snack after dinner. I think it’s just about keeping busy or drinking some water on those days when you have nothing to eat except junk food. I am really hungry right now but I’m telling myself I only have 20 minutes left of the work day and then I can get home and eat.

I've been having fruit at about half 3 to 4 in the afternoon- just a little one from tesco or sainsburys (no banana) and really keeps me going and satisfys my sweet tooth :)

    hope this helps

Snacks happen. If your morning was really light then don't worry about the past so much as having a healthy snack plan for the future. Popcorn is my go-to. Beans and peanut butter are my emergency meals.
If your morning was not that forgiving then do a little extra exercise but don't skip dinner or anything to drastic :)

i don;t think we will ever be free of cravings...but the best thing is to enjoy the moment...but after work it out as much as possible...we are human, plus always saying no is going to take you to the point you'll say i'm fed up with this...i will give up...and lose the battle...

ill have what i want as a snack; but in moderation. like if its chips u ate; just have a serving; usually ill have half a serving and its enough to tide me away from eating more of them cuz it filled my craving.

Never letting myself leave home without a granola bar, 100cal snack bag, or something that doesnt go bad by sitting in my purse.

if your running low on something, make sure you make it to the store when its running low and not completely out. if money is an issue; making sure to have $20 sitting around for food only in case of running out in between paychecks.

having something bad, and then working it in your day; like if i spent 500calories on a snack and only left myself with 100calories for dinner; i might have a huge salad for dinner. or if i completly went over calories and couldnt eat dinner, id put in a work out until i had at least enough calories to have some type of lite dinner. 2cups spinach with a couple abby carrots, celery, mushrooms, radishes, brocolli, etc is 50calories-ish. season with garlic and pepper instead of dressing.

at my desk at work, i have a couple back up snacks.

there is nothing wrong with having something bad; afterall, this is not a diet, this is a lifestyle change; and no one said you have to give up everything life has to offer just to loose weight.

We have to start learning to tell ourselves NO. Nobody is happier being overweight...and if we want to be successful in our journey we will need to get disciplined with ourselves.

I'm not saying that you can NEVER have another slip up, but it is better to stop yourself mid-binge than wait until it's over and feel like crap later on.

If I have to have chocolate or wine. I will have a small glass or 15 chocolate chips and then work it into my calorie goal for the day. This has consistently worked for me since I have started my weight loss journey. I have been on MFP since April 2, 2011 and since that time (11 weeks) I have lost 25 pounds. I have had maybe 4 days in that time where I have thrown caution to the wind and had a couple glasses of wine more than I expected or had half a box of glosette raisins. But I consider those treats to reward myself for my hard work.

Just think to yourself...If I put in the effort to control myself, I will be rewarded with the body and energy and self confidence that I have worked so hard for.
