No weight loss??

Please help!!
I am terribly overweight and I have been SO motivated this week - sticking to a low carb, high protein diet of 1600 calories per day. I feel amazing! Loads of energy, a lot of get up and go... But no weight loss AT ALL!!
Does it take my body time to adapt to this new diet? Will it eventually kick in??

I knowww... Its just u see these people on slimming world who lose 6lb in a week!! I guess my body is just in shock from all the years i treated it badly!0

Remember - it took a lot longer than a week to put on the weight, and it's going to be a while to take it off as well. Make sure your expectations are realistic.
Also, the first few weeks of weight loss aren't really representative of how you will lose over time. So someone loses 6 lbs their first week of Slimming World - it's mostly water weight and it's unlikely they will lose 6 lbs again the next week or the week after that. Your body isn't in shock, weight loss just isn't immediate and it isn't linear.0 -
My concern though is that nothing is happening at all. I dont expect to lose half a stone. But i did expect perhaps a 2lb loss. Considering my weight, and that i probably ate 3000 calories per day and ive literally halved it.... I assumed SOMETHING would happen. But literally nothing.0

You're used to seeing the 'quick fix', which is BIG business. Here's the thing: a large part of that 6lbs was water weight, not fat. Plus, people who do the woo/fad diets will almost ALWAYS gain it back. There is no quick fix when it comes to healthy, sustainable weight loss. It's a slow process, which is frustrating at times! Weight loss is not linear; in fact, you will have weeks where the number on the scale goes up a little bit. That's the point where a lot of people assume it's not working and give up. What those people don't realize is that weight fluctuations are normal and everyone has them. Make your plan and stick with it. Give it a couple of months to see if it's helping you. Look at the trend of your weight loss, not day-to-day numbers. This entire thing requires a shift in thinking that's hard to do, but will serve you far better and help you out long term once you get it down.0 -

Yes... For the first time In my life i am religious about recording every single thing. I am weighing food and even underestimating exercise to make sure i
Dont input too much... Ie i will say 1/2 an hr walking when it was really 45 mins.
Accuracy isnt the issue this time. No cheating

It is. It sucks, but slow really is better in this case. You'll come out on the end feeling better and with the tools you need to keep the weight off. ^_^0 -

Absolutely! Especially if your diet includes a lot of sodium (think pre-packaged food). If you don't drink enough your body holds onto that water.0

Well this week everything ive eaten has been prepared by my own loving hands LOL but regardless, I dont drink enough water so thats my goal for tomorrow!!

I've found the most difficult part about weight loss is that your immediate result is not necessarily a reflection of the work you are doing right now. When I had a lot to lose, I was working so hard and it felt like results were so slow. It was very frustrating to still be unhappy with my body when I was doing everything I could to change it and improve my health.
The most encouraging thing for me was to change my whole outlook. When I really started to focus on how much better I felt eating healthier, regardless of my weight, and appreciate the extra energy I had, I started to forget about weight loss. I stopped obsessing about my end goal, and before I knew it, I had lost 30 pounds. As an emotional eater, it helped me so much to just let the weight obsession go, and embrace my new healthier lifestyle.
Weight loss over time is a good indicator of your progress, but getting hung up on weight loss day to day can really become an obstacle.0 -

Thats a really great way to look at it... And i have been jumping on the scales every day expecting to see something. I am giving myself a two week scale ban and i will see how i go from there. You are so right... I need to focus on how great i feel!

You didn't gain weight overnight and you won't lose overnight. Give it time.0
