I'm 40 and working toward my first 5K. The Tulsa color run. Anyone else in the same boat? Any thoughts?

I am 41, but the year I turned 40 I also decided I was going to run a 5k. I have since done 3 and my daughter an I are doing a Color Run at the end of April and are currently looking into a Dirty Girl Mud Run. It's a lot of fun and you'll be so proud of yourself when you finish!!

I'm working towards a 5k that's going to be in my hometown at end of April or the color run in Tulsa. I haven't decided which one yet.

Start slow and very gradually build miles, get running shoes at a running store and replace every 450 miles. You will grow to love it. I didn't start running til I was 52 and got up to about 25 miles a week as I focused on weight loss & fitness. Came home from a run and opened the paper to see a half marathon for the following morning. I thought "I can do this!" and I did. It was my first race and I felt I had accomplished something that I thought I could never do.

Wow! That's amazing and encouraging. I will go to the city tomorrow and see if I can find some good shoes. I'm really psyched!!! Thank you for that information

We're gonna do the color run in Tulsa. Why don't you aim for both of them?
