Tonight 10 miles brings me to 200.1 miles for February.0

After a weekend of work/rest I felt fantastic today for my final run of the month. I planned to do a faster paced 4 miler to see how far I've come since the beginning of the month, not to mention 2.5 months back when I started this obsession. My goal was to do 4 miles with an average pace under 7 minutes. Nailed it! Feels so good to see all the personal records after a lot of hard work.

Here it is 10:00pm and I just got in the door from Work. 14 hrs is enough. I submitted a time from a 15K I did last Spring. I was placed in corral E, and I had an absolute wonderful experience with this race. I never felt crowded; I never had to weave around people; ////
If you will be running another Disney race in November, I highly suggest you enter your time for a corral designation. I feel like you will have a much more pleasant race experience if you do.
@7lenny7, @9voice9 and @WhatMeRunning Hope that you are close to full recovery and no longer a member of the Limpers and Gimpers. Extending your recuperation-recovery is better than re-injuring yourself and putting you back on the bleachers. Occasionally I feel a little tightness in my right Calf from my December Injury.
@karllundy Haven't ran any Marathons but did my first 2 HM's in February. I ran the HM distance 1-2 times a month as a long slow easy Training runs ( 2:20 - 2:30 ). Went into the HM with the goal of beating my training run time by about 5 mins. Succeed 2:12:59 in my first HM and 2:12:00 in my 2nd. Find a HM close to you sign up, drag a friend along ( MFP Running Challenge Friend? ) and go have fun. Personally I like the Dirt trail runs more than the Road or Paved Trails, as long as they have 1-2 km of wide track at the start of the race to allow the runners a little room to spread out, unfortunately there are very few Hm's that are dirt - lots of Ultra's.

@skippygirlsmom - love the updates! You recruited someone for our group too!
My Endomondo app says I ran 60 miles in February. My ticker had 56.xx so I added some miles to it so it would match Endomondo. Apparently I forgot to add one of the 3.1 miles on or forgot to list it here. Don't have time to compare day by day with Endomondo and my list. Still not at my goal for the month but at least 60 is better than 56.

I'd say I'm mostly Polar Bear. I'm actually a little sad that the snow is melting and it's starting to warm up. I was hoping to do more sub-zero running this winter.0 -

Just coming here to put the end cap on my month. What a month it was! I didn't make goal, but I got close--and would have without the life curve-balls. There isn't any way right now that I can keep up with these threads, but I am trying to read as I have time. Fall stories! Flying dogs! I'm always encouraged and happy to be here reading about everyone's fabulous runs. I can't wait to see more springtime photos of beautiful run locations, too. Thank you everyone who has commented and encouraged me along the way. Off to March!

The last 2 winters, I would have been a Polar Bear. This winter, I'm a cross between a Polar Bear and an Improviser. I still love my outdoor running, and I still managed to get a few ice beards; but I've gone inside for most speed work, and a couple of days had me retreat to the indoor track because I'm more of a weather wimp than I used to be.
I've come to realize that even though I loved the outdoor running last year, cold and snow will always be excuses that make it hard for me to get any speed work done. Easy running outside is nice, but I don't fancy finding black ice while running hard.0 -

Everyone around me was so polite, conversational, encouraging, and respectful - I hear that is not always the case once you get closer to the back of the pack.

I'm still very sorry to hear about your son. I really hope things start to look up for all of you shortly.
Believe it or not, I did submit a time! I was in group G, though. The estimation was that I would finish in 2:45, but obviously the bathroom pitstops took their toll, as did my overly conservative speed. I am a solitary runner, and I just felt so much pressure with all those people around me--everyone was kind and friendly (except for one girl who I think was going to murder her running partner because they did *not* agree on their pace, lol!)--but I just felt trapped the whole time. And looking at my splits, I was just slow. Not a one of my splits was under a 12 minute mile. The slowest two were the first two miles (12:41) and the last mile (12:57). I didn't even stop for a photo at all. I'm definitely interested in doing another Disney race, just because the trip itself is really fun. But I'm not sure I'm much of a racer, actually--I don't really care about medals or shirts. I just like running.

2/2 - Snow Day
2/3 - 4 miles on treadmill
2/4 - 5.1 miles on treadmill (Trek class). Sore knee this morning...hoping it is from shoveling and not running related. Didn't get worse when I ran, so I am going to cautiously push through.
2/5 - 4 miles on treadmill
2/6 - Life day...too busy to squeeze in a run :-(
2/7 - 5.4 windy miles, but warm for Feb.
2/8 - Another life day. Wife's mother in hospital not well, so she is out of town...gotta get kids to school, etc.
2/9 - 4 miles on treadmill. Convinced all three kids to go to the Y with me after dinner.
2/10 - 2/14 - Nothing.
2/15 - Again, 0.
2/16 - 4 miles on treadmill, hotter than blazes in the gym!
2/17 - Another life day.
2/18 - 4.1 wet, squishy, windy, springy miles...it was fun!
2/19 - 4 miles on a teeny, tiny indoor track (76 laps)
2/20 - Spin class with my Y friends...raising funds
2/21 - 4.3 miles, nice and comfortable
2/22 - 5.2 easy miles. Felt like I could have run all night, but family / duty called and I had to head home.
2/23 - 3.5 miles on treadmill + weights/abs
2/24 - Planned rest day. Been so long since I actually needed that...I may have forgotten how!
2/25 - Unplanned rest day. MIL back in hospital for third time in three weeks.
2/26 - 4.33 miles. Breezy, but pretty good.
2/27 - 6.53 miles on a gorgeous day! 65° F at 3 p.m. - it was HOT.
2/28 - Another unplanned rest day. MIL is being sent to in-home hospice.
2/29 - 4.00 windy, blustery miles. Took about 2 to get warmed up, but the last 2 were great!
Month was 62.46 out of 90 goal miles.

Done. Ended up taking a rest day Sunday, but did a double yesterday to wrap up the month with an 8 mile tempo run mid day, then 4 with a neighbor in the evening. Onto March!

March started out well. After my son's basketball game (a 44-11 snoozer in our favor) I went to my Winter Warrior group run. I wanted to run an easy pace but, like a race, I was pushed by the group pace and my first mile was 8:30. I had a hard time getting down to 10:00 so I decided to run at my hoped for marathon pace of 9:00. That worked out well and my splits were 8:49, 9:05, 8:56, 9:03, 8:52, 8:57. I'm very pleased with that consistency. Finished with 7.23 miles.
Knee report: I could feel it before and during the first couple miles, but then the pressure went away. Felt fine at home but I iced it anyway. Feeling really good today. I just can't figure this out though. The pressure (not enough to call pain) comes and goes with no apparent reason. I'm just going to keep running with it unless it gets worse.
I have yet to tally up my plan miles for March but for now I'll say 140 miles is my goal. I've also created a goal of 1500 miles for the year.
