Why you are not loosing weight...

You're not loosing weight because "loosing" is not a word.

You can LOSE weight. You can make your body LOOSE (mostly through stretching and funky dance moves). But you cannot, however, loose weight. Try as you will, you will never "loose" weight.

Now, if you are wondering why you're not LOSING weight... there are other threads for that.

(Sorry, I just couldn't take it anymore.)

The awful thing is that when someone writes the word correctly now---I have to ask myself "is this correct"? I'm so used to seeing the wrong version on the boards that I start to get confused. :'(

    Actually, loose IS a word.

But who wants to hear that noise?

I said "loosing" is not a word.

I first ran into this error when I used to read sports forums back in the late '90s (yeah, I don't know why either).

OSU and Packers fans seemed especially prone to the mistake and didn't seem to realize how silly they looked claiming that other teams were going to loose to theirs.

(It's possible that I am somewhat biased and that's why I noticed the error from these particular people, and not that their fans are actually worse spellers on average.)

Anyway, at the time I found it shocking that people confused the terms loose and lose. I'm now more jaded.

    Well, it can be.

"l I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Someone who follows this might go around binding and loosing.

Nothing to do with dieting, though! ;-) Unless you think of it as untying that tiresome fat.

I just added this app and joined this forum. Was expecting to hear posts about health and fitness instead I hear rants and criticisms about people mis-spelling words on their posts. At the end of the day does it really matter?? Maybe some people are not as educated as others. Is it necessary to attack them? Keep it positive and focused on what this forum is for!

I've been here too long to care about that anymore. I just want to get to the science and help people if they're not losing, or "loosing".

Be careful of what you say. You can get "warned" or "banned" by helping educate people around here. "Feewings" get hurt mighty easy when people are taught some truth!

I used to try to correct common grammar and spelling mistakes on boards because I thought people were basically smart and capable of learning. I now realize they are dumb, enjoy ignorance, and assume attempts to help them better themselves are attacks. I don't waste my time trying to help anymore.

I didn't realize this new way of interacting was the positive way. I thought the idiots destroyed a shiny piece of my soul.
