Not hungry, no appetite

I'm having a hard time getting my calories in each day because I'm not hungry and nothing sounds good. My Dr said drink Boost or Ensure, but they are loaded with sugar. Any suggestions for a dairy free meal replacement?

How long have you not had an appetite?
Is that all your doctor said? Is there a reason you need to avoid sugar? If you're struggling to get your calories in then I wouldn't worry so much about macros.0 -
Are you trying to lose weight?
Has something drastically changed since you gained weight by over-consuming?0 -
^^ that. Plus of it continues you really need a reason why0

A couple weeks, due to kidney disease. I'm avoiding sugar because it causes weight gain, inflammation, fatigue. Plus type 2 diabetes runs in the family. I want to build muscle, not add fat.0

You need to be speaking to your doctor then not random Internet people0 -
As a short term thing though what's the problem...0

Is it that you simply do not feel hungry or that you cannot eat because you feel ill or full? If it's the former, then there's nothing more to be said than make yourself eat more. If it's the latter, see doctor.0

If you are not going to eat anything at all, the sugar in 3-6 Ensures is not going to matter at all. It is a good option if you can't eat or even to supplement your diet if you are eating.0

I also have kidney disease besides when I have an infection I rarely have no appetite. Do as your Dr says. Drinking Ensure for a few days to get cals in is not going to give you diabetes. Especially when you are eating anything. You have to feed your body especially with kidney issues.0

You're kind of all over the place here. Are you needing to gain weight or lose weight? Likely, if sugar were a concern, your Dr. would have said so. Is there a specific issue with dairy? Building muscle is a whole other ball of wax. Specifics may get you more useful replies (or not )0
