I just found out recently that I have type 1 diabetes! Lost 70 pounds before I found out and gained 20 back. Trying hard to loose weight!

It's definitely difficult to lose weight as a type 1. I just had this conversation with my endo last week (and every time I see him) about how it is so much more difficult for us to lose weight than for others. He always explains it, but has no solution. In my case, I have both type 1 and type 2 (I doubled my weight in the first year after getting type 1 and continued to gain weight until I developed type 2 also).

There is a type 1 group, but it isn't very active - send me a PM if you want the link.

I know I'll get a lot of flack for saying so, but if you are pre-diabetic, T1D or T2D you really should look into following a Ketogenic diet (LCHF). If interested in learning more about what it is you can always google it...or you can drop by the main low carber forum group here in MFP and lurk and read the posts:

I have friend who is T1D who follows this way of eating (WOE). She's lost 45 pounds and greatly reduced all of her T1D meds as well as improved some other health issues she was having (she completely reversed Stage 3 Kidney Failure - this after the doctor's told her there was no way to reverse it and that nothing could be done). My mother is T2D and she follows this WOE. She's lost 50-60 pounds and has been taken off: all of her T2D meds, all of her high blood pressure meds, all of her cholesterol meds, and off of a water pill. I was pre-diabetic (no longer am) and I follow this WOE. To date I've successfully eliminated 148 pounds (roughly 1/2 my starting body weight). I no longer take any medication of any kind...just something to think about.
