Water Retention / Carbs

Hey MFP,
So, I had a high calorie / sodium / carb day on Saturday (2500 cals; unsure of the sodium count--but high). The scale then went up 3 pounds, which I know is likely water retention. However, it's still up three days later despite being super clean. Is that normal?
Thanks!

Water retention from a high day can last a full week for me. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, but I wouldn't worry too much just yet :flowerforyou:0

Yep. It varies from person to person. I've gained 4 pounds in a day and it has taken 14 days to fall off. I've gained 7 pounds in a week (Christmas to New Year's) and it took a month to go away.0

Yeah, I know that my experiences with it have made me really stop and ask myself "Is this food really worth it?" before having a higher sodium/carb meal or day.0
