I signed up for the Spartan Race in Aug and I will be sharing my journey on getting Spartan Fit. The company shares a daily WOD ( workout of the day) but I find those almost too hard to do starting out. If you have great workouts or suggestions please share the wealth. Let's destroy this obstacle course.

It has been awhile since I saw the daily WOD's they put out. But you can always use modified versions of the exercise, less weight, or less reps.

OCR is a running sport, so definitely run. And do lots of hills! Body weight exercises, obstacle practice and grip strength are also key. But seriously....don't underestimate the running.

Feel free to message me with more specific questions, I've completed like 14 Spartans and quite a bit of other OCR's as well.

I agree with the esjones: scale the WOD if you have to.

I think these are good: running, running hills, farmer's walk, pull ups, bear crawls, burpees, push ups, more pull ups, more burpees, more running. Balance work and agility. Think speed ladder, box jumps, plyos, kettlebells. Work on endurance too or you might run out of gas on the course.

Some obstacles, like rope climb and walls, are really as much about technique as anything else. Find someone who knows how to do them and can teach you and practice.

I think a lot of the challenge of Spartan OCR is mental but it can be a tough physical challenge as well mostly because of the diversity of the obstacles. Good luck!

Great advice guys. Thanks for sharing. I am working on writing out a routine that will ramp up in intensity over the next four months. I plan to really attack the agility side of things, lots of burpees and running starts in the morning. I'm hoping to start tossing in burpees at mile markers during the run to simulate obstacles and then having to continue to run. Excited to start.
