Is eating breakfast really good for you?

I'm a breakfast-skipper too! I just don't usually get hungry until lunch, especially during the week, so I just have coffee. I generally have about 1000 calories left going into the evening, which gives me lots of room for a filling dinner plus a yummy snack. I even do my runs in the morning, and still don't get hungry for breakfast. Do what works for you!0

I used to do that too! are you really blonde? you're picture doesnt show it0

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day lol. But I believe so but also depends on your body. I used to NEVER eat breakfast but once I had kids I can't go without breakfast. I start to feel very sick when I don't eat breakfast and get stomach pains. So I think it's good for you. Especially if you do your workouts in the morning like I do I try to get a good protein breakfast in before or after my workout0

Yes, in my opinion it allows you another meal to contribute to your macros and I think it helps to regulate your metabolism. I couldn't skip breakfast, I would starve and feel crap
Contributing to your macros is fine, but you don't get extra credit for meeting/exceeding them sooner.

Is the "they" you are referring to the breakfast food industry?0 -

It's so important for me. It regulates my sugar levels, keeps my pressure down, gives me energy. This is even if i'm not hungry. You can easily have 1 egg, 1 toast or splurge on 2. Or 1 slice of toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. Just enough to give you energy and your body fuel without eating too much and eating up your calories. I try to eat on a schedule more to keep my hunger at bay. If I allow myself to get hungry, it's cause I haven't been eating on a schedule and that leads me to binge. And that feeling comes cause my body is freaking out from the lack of food and thinks it needs to load up for my organs. So weird how the body works but this body of our is a smart one and needs fuel to keep us healthy. That's really what it all comes down to.

If your car was out of gas would you say "I can wait until later to fuel it" or would you give it some fuel to run on?
Your body has a full tank, it is called adipose. You're more like a plug-in hybrid than a conventional car. This would be like worrying that you need to plug-in your car to charge the battery even if you have a full tank of gas, particularly when most people are looking to empty their gas tank (lose weight).0 -
I'm so hungry in the morning that I can't ever imagine skipping breakfast, and on the occasion that I don't have time I feel nauseous on my way to uni. If I wasn't hungry at all I wouldn't force myself to have breakfast, but you could always have some plain yogurt and a little fruit.0

The impression i'm getting here is that when people hear the word breakfast, they think it has to be a full meal. It can be as simple as eating an apple or a banana in the morning. It's fuel for the brain. We can function without it but as for me, i'm so much more alert when i have breakfast.0

I don't think that anyone doubts it is the best choice *for you*. The question is whether people should force themselves to eat something when they aren't hungry and are functioning perfectly well without it.
I'm a distracted monster when I don't eat breakfast. I always make time for it. But there are many people who find it optional.0 -
I think as long as you don't overindulge at lunch because you are extremely hungry, then it's probably not a big deal to skip. I'm like janejellyroll though, I'm not fun to be around if I don't eat breakfast.0

It makes no difference when you eat your calories. Do it based on what works best for you and your diet.0

Nope, breakfast is completely unnecessary if you don't want it. I have 1 or 2 cups of coffee (so maybe that is my breakfast?) when I wake up and get the kids up for school, and that's it until about 1:00-ish. I am simply not hungry in the morning, nor do I lack energy. I eat a light lunch, and then a large meal and some kind of sweet thing later in the evening between 6:00 and 9:00, when my hunger is in high-gear. Everyone is different. If you don't want to eat breakfast, don't. Technically, whenever you first eat in a day is breakfast.0

Exactly this. I love eating breakfast. I don't think everyone needs to eat it because I like to.0 -
I'm an old lady, and throughout my whole working career I never ate breakfast because I didnt want it. Thats 42 years of no breakfasts. Now that I retired there is nothing to do so I started having breakfast. Didnt realize I had to change things around with my other meals - I gained 13 pounds. Trying to work on that now but really not interested in breakfast. Really good answers by everyone.0

I think it comes down to personal circadian rhythms. My husband doesn't like breakfast, can't eat it- it makes him sick if he tries to eat too early. However, he can go to the gym and work out for two hours late at night.
If I don't eat breakfast, I'm grouchy, headachy and can't concentrate. By 9 pm, I'm totally ready for bed, and the gym would be an impossibility.
If you don't want breakfast, don't eat it. Find what works for you and your body.0
