Ok MFP friends I have a question?? I've lost 15 pounds and it seems that I'm at a standstill....could it be a plateau already??

    What are you defining as a plateau? That is, how long has your weight loss stalled? Also, are you measuring anything other than weight to track your progress like body measurements, or photos? If not you should as fat loss can be masked by various things.

    How long has it been since you last saw a drop on the scale? A plateau is generally defined as something like 4-8+ weeks with no movement on the scale and no changes to your routine (since changes to diet and exercise routines so often come with greater water weight fluctuations).

    Don't give up! I feel like I've been plateauing for the past year. Try to change something small up, like no pasta for a week or no bread. It's hard, trust me!, but it'll help. When I cut bread out of my diet (my Portuguese bread has sure been missed), I lost 6 lbs in 6 weeks.

    I agree, try to trade out one or two servings of carbs for fresh veggies, and if you're doing steady-state cardio, try one or two HIIT sessions per week to rattle your metabolism a little bit. Whatever you change up, it might take 3-4 weeks to notice, but stick with it and if you're truly putting in hard work, results will follow, just be patient and don't stress over it.

    How would trading a carb for a veggie help produce weight loss ? What macro do you think veggies fall into, just curious?

    Op- get yourself a digital food scale and weigh everything you consume
    Log everything here .


    Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. If your not losing, I would first try to be as accurate as possible to be sure your actually eating at a calorie deficit. Don't be fooled by myths and "tips ". Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit.

    OP, what matters for weight loss is how many calories you are eating, not what foods you are eating. If you are eyeballing portions, you are probably eating more than you think. That is totally normal, most people do. When I got a food scale, I found I was easily eating 300 cals per day more than I thought I was, sometimes even more.

    So before you start unnecessarily restricting yummy foods, spend 12 bucks on a food scale and make sure you are working with accurate numbers. Good luck!

If you just say "that looks like a tablespoon of peanut butter" it could actually be 2 and a half tablespoons, because most people just aren't good at eyeballing portions.

    Measuring your food (or weighing) is part of counting calories, not separate from it. It's how you determine your portion sizes so that you can count how much of something you actually ate.

    You weigh your food in order to count calories correctly. Even if you don't want to do it forever, it's worth the $15 to buy a scale and use it for awhile, just to get a better idea of what portions of certain foods look like. I was surprised how much feta 28g was! I was actually logging too little for that for a long time. Now that I know what 28g really looks like....more cheese for me. B) It's usually the opposite, though....you end up eating more than you think just guessing, not less.

    You weigh your food in order to count calories correctly. Even if you don't want to do it forever, it's worth the $15 to buy a scale and use it for awhile, just to get a better idea of what portions of certain foods look like. I was surprised how much feta 28g was! I was actually logging too little for that for a long time. Now that I know what 28g really looks like....more cheese for me. B) It's usually the opposite, though....you end up eating more than you think just guessing, not less.
