No if you havent eaten at least 1000 calories you get the warning. You can use quick add and put extra calories so it will post

Well, you could do a quick add, but the better option is to actually eat more.

If you're going by what MFP suggested, the idea is to eat back some of those exercise calories. Their base calculation didn't take the gym calories into account.

Exercise calories tend to be inflated. As such, it's generally recommended to eat 50% of them.

If MFP says you haven't eaten enough, you haven't eaten enough. If you consistently eat under the recommended intake, you risk muscle loss, hair loss, weakened organs, irregular/stopped periods, fatigue, and many other things that aren't good for your health. That's why the 1200 calorie minimum is there for a reason.

youre a male and eating less than 1000 calories a day? I'm 5'1 and female and eat more than that.

    by god, go eat.

i would also wager you are eating more than you think you are.

It doesn't matter if you complete the day or not. The only thing that does is alert your friends that you've completed the day. Just keep logging.

And under 1000 for a male is pretty low unless you're extremely short - like under 4 feet tall.

When Ppl typically start dieting they think the less they eat the faster they will lose and while you won't notice problems right away eventually you will get fatigued, lose muscle mass, lose hair and your nails will start becoming very brittle. Feed your body what it needs to function for a male that is at least 1500 cals plus at least some of your exercise cals.

It's too late to edit my post so I'll rewrite this here.

    This^

A sensible deficit will help you lose FAT. A crash diet will help you lose a whole bunch of other stuff you don't want to lose (muscle, hair). Stay healthy - eat more.

I possibly am eating more then i think i am especially at dinner time. But may be putting it in wrong on MFP but during my day at work (desk job) i do eat every 2 hours having around 800cal including breakfast. Throughout my work day. My body isnt telling me im hungry. I am trying to stay below 1500 and above 1200cal a day.

1200 is typically a nutritional minimum for women. Since men are generally taller, have more lean muscle mass to support, etc....the default minimum for them is 1500. The default minimums are most appropriate for older, shorter people. These minimums are BEFORE exercise.

If your body isn't telling you it's hungry, then you are eating more than you think, or you could stand to make better choices. Low calorie - high volume foods may be filling, but are often low in nutrition.

Calorie dense foods - nuts, nut butters, avocado, olive oil, full fat dairy, eggs. Lots of nutrition, small portions.

If you are aware that this is true, what is the point of filling out the diary at all? Also, you don't have to hit the complete button each day, in fact I hardly ever do.

    Good

I don't ever hit complete on my diary, partly because no one cares what I eat and because the 5 week prediction thing has never been accurate for me.

or- just don't hit the "complete" button.

I couldn't tell you the last time I hit it.

It will still complete the diary it just wont give you a prediction because they don't want to encourage eating below limit.
