As a serious reply, I have a Taylor bluetooth scale that seems accurate enough (was within 1lb of my Wii Balance Board). Also, a 10lb weight is not a good check for a scale that is supposed to weigh things that are 100-250lb as it may have reading errors in the unrealistic weight range (only babies weigh 10lb so it is outside the normal operating range of a bathroom scale). You should grab 100lb of known weight and check that.0

walmart.com/ip/Healthometer-Glass-Body-Fat-Bath-Scale-with-Daily-Caloric-Intake-Athlete-Mode-BMI-and-Hydration-Level/14706457
This one from Wal-Mart is what I have used for the past 5 years and seems to be the best <$30 set I have found.
I use it to fully track my net CICO results so I only have one entry each day to track my CICO results. I do it twice each morning to monitor a man health factor after sleeping 6-8 hours that the doctors are always asking about.
The BMI feature is nice and I find the number of calories that I need to eat per day per my weight objectives is spot on but my hydration level is very key to in my case so that is an awesome feature.0 -

Ha ha! I love the "batroom" scale. Anyway, I like this one from Amazon.

I have had it for 4 years, the price is much higher now.0 -
I updated my post to be correct... I needed more caffeine before I typed that one!!!0

Walmart sells scales.
They carry Taylor brand which is reliable.

I use this one and I find it to be very accurate (it doesn't cost a lot either) http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Digital-Weight-Bathroom-Scale/dp/B00F3J9G1W0

How do these electronic scales figure out your body fat percentage?
I use a balance beam scale at the gym but wouldn't mind having a cheapo scale at home too. Should I just get one that measures BF% too? I remember when this feature was first introduced it was considered inaccurate.

I remember when this feature was first introduced it was considered inaccurate."Most of these types of scales use bioelectrical impedance. That is to say, they send a safe and very low electrical current through the lower half of the body. Since the electrical current flows more quickly through water and muscle than bone or fat, the scale measures the speed of the current."
I just saw that on google but the other links I went to said the same thing about the electrical current. I've never used one so I can't personally help you out there. From the little reading about them that I did, it seemed that some people said they were accurate while quite a few said there are a lot of variables that can make it give an inaccurate reading. BUT I'm not an expert on BF bathroom scales haha.0 -

They use Bioelectrical Impedance - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioelectrical_impedance_analysis
They can be accurate, but just drinking a cup of water of sweating a lot can throw them off, hence why you can't really trust them. Following the manufacturer instructions is important if you want anywhere close to useful results. I believe they get worse the more extreme your BF% becomes (low or very high). My scale has an "athlete mode" for people with low BF% to help correct errors. My scale is reading 12.6%, while calipers and tape are measuring 10.7%. I'm confident I'm somewhere between the two.0 -
Thanks @nordlead2005 for sharing that link. While mine will weigh me with socks or shoes I have to get bare foot for all of the features to work. In my case my BMI and %fat seem to track together and just now they are 28.5/27% with hydration at 53.4%. When my BMI was 35 my body fat % was mid 30's as well but back then my best hydration was more like 46-48%. I guess fat is harder to hydrate.
It really does not matter about accuracy as long as it is repeatable and tracks weigh in a relative sense which my do. Something for home use and under $30 I like mine set works for me. I noticed I programmed mine when I was 60 years old and need to reprogram them that I know more 5 years later. It just told me I need to eat 2776 calories daily and I actually maintain eating in the 2500-3000 calories a day range.0
