If I were to take 3 hot yoga classes a week, would I need to do extra cardio?

I love hot yoga, but unfortunately a lot of the weight lost in hot yoga is just water weight. It is GREAT as a supplement to any work out and works to tone your muscles and improve your overall health, but relying on hot yoga for weightloss isnt the best idea. I definitely would add more cardio.

Well, I was thinking about the 90x, or 30 day shred.

Physical activity is physical activity. It comes down to how hard your body has work (or how efficiently it performs work) to perform the activity. If you're increasing your heart rate for an extended period of time it makes no difference if you're riding a bike of doing a handstand when it comes to weight loss.

Yoga can be extremely rigorous, bikram, vinyasa, kundalini pick your poison. People will always be quick to tell you that yoga is not an effective cardio plan. Take a look at the body of someone who practices yoga regularly and answer that question (google simon park).

Give a shot, if you find it too easy move on to something else.
