Easter!

What's everyone planning for Easter?

I was kinda hoping we were not doing anything special, but we're going to my BIL again... which always means a lot of tasty food. Ugh. I'm making an Easter braid (was supposed to be breakfast but I guess it will go well with lunch) and a pear frangipane tart... and will try really hard not to piggy out on chocolate (because, you know, it's not like I can't have chocolate any other day).

Anyone having delicious plans?

I saw ads for a baked ham and fried chicken buffet at a restaurant in town. Since I'm not going to be able to make it home to family, I might check it out.

We have a lamb roast on Easter Sunday, simnel cake, and one or two Easter eggs each.

I don't know why we still mark it as an occasion, as nobody in my house is remotely religious and the youngest person is 14, so it's grown adults mainly leading the charge on scoffing bunny-shaped chocolate and mini eggs. I'm using the fact I'm doing a 10K fun run on Good Friday as an excuse to demolish extra food.

I'm cooking a little something for me, the hubs and my mother-in-law. I'm planning on making a ham, loaded mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole (my MIL loves it and always wants me to make it on holidays), fruit salad, a few veggies and pineapple cake.

My plan is to skip the green bean casserole (I usually have some, but it's not my favorite, so why waste the calories?), load up my plate with fruit salad and veggies, and have the ham and loaded mashed potatoes in moderation. :)

My brother will probably throw something on the grill.

I'm more excited for Easter clearance candy. :#

Going to my mum's for 2 days. My sister will be there who has a baby and who was ill recently, so she needs feeding up. Luckily, there are always fruit and salads at my mum's and nobody will shove chocolate at me. I will however make hot cross buns because I love them. I'll eat one or two and then take the dog for a very long walk.

Pratt's BBQ Easter Buffet. It's all of the best smoked meats and sides that the restaurant makes and it's the only meal I will eat on Sunday.

Ham, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, and King's Hawaiian rolls. The middle American standard Easter feast. Oh, and probably deviled eggs, as we'll have made a couple dozen colored eggs, lol.

We have a ham and...nothing else yet. I have to work 4 AM-noon that day, same as every Sunday, so I'll probably get a couple other things afterwards (one or two veggie dishes and dessert). I definitely have my eye on this strawberry pie my store just put out in the bakery.

Instead of traditional ham, mashed potatoes and our regular holiday type dinner, we're doing a cookout-style dinner with ribeye steaks, potato salad, corn on the cob and stuff like that.

I have no idea, so most likely nothing special since we are not planning to go anywhere. Although that may change at the last moment.

I was going to make a strawberry tart but my husband wanted me to use my puff pastry dough to make a pear almond tart, who am I to say no?

I'm sorta hoping we're not going to have ham because I got a free one last week and been eating some all week, but I guess it's not a huge deal because I love ham...

Lots and Lots of Candy. I *may* have bought 20 bags of candy and peeps. I lost count.

Breakfast at SMIL's for *I hope* Monkey bread and then going to MIL's for dinner. Which will probably be ham because SFIL doesn't like lamb (Thank goodness, cause I can't stand it either). There will most likely be some Amish pie assortment present. And more candy....

We always have lamb, but I might do a pear dessert too, instead of my usual strawberry/rhubarb because Easter is so early this year it may not feel that spring-like anyway, and I'm currently obsessed with pears.

Lots of family coming for a feast and Easter egg hunt for the kiddies. Menu will be maple baked ham, asparagus, roasted potatoes, fruit platter, mini egg salad sandwiches, pasta shell salad with shrimp, lemon and dill, some type of banana cake for dessert.

I think that I'm being forced to attend church by my family (you know, so that we can look like "good" Christians by showing our faces there once a year). They'll probably have a potluck, so I'll probably just eat some strawberries and grapes and wait until we go home to eat. I hate casarolles and fried chicken - yuck!
