Running question

I want to change up my work out routine. I have decided to train for a half-marathon. (just for the heck of it) I need a little help before I start. Can anyone tell me of an effective training schedule? I am currently looking online by means of google and I can't find a decent schedule.

I am looking for a detailed schedule that is laid out and leaves nothing out. Can anyone lead me to a website or give me a smart schedule to follow. I am a decent runner. I run about 4 - 6 miles a day, but I do intervals. I want to run a half - marathon without stopping.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

on the main page there is a section called Smart Coach. answer the questions on what your training for, time of last race, etc and it will give you a running/workout schedule for you to train until the date of your race. I used it when I did my first half and im using it again for my first marathon this fall

i know there are a few websites or blogs about running and training and schedule. i just started running outside myself. on a tredmill i dont last very long, but outside i can seem to go for at least a mile without stopping and then only need a small walking break. i know i have to be a lot slower then on the tredmill but it also uses different muscles.

Just google his novice plan. They are free. Galloway is another name. Never followed his plans but they get alot of great results. Also check out your nearest running store. They may have a group

I have been recommended Hal Higdon's training schedules by several runners. Here's a link for half marathon training by him. You just click on your level. http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/

Runners World has some great plans. If you have an iphone, check out the Addidas micoach application. It is free and actually provides voice coaching to guide you through your training plan. I've used it with good results.

This. They also have an app, if you have an Android phone.

I think that Hal Higdon has the best site out there. I used it when I trained for my half marathon and my full. It has different levels so you can customize for your running. I am training for a half right now and am using the novice program because I have been running now for almost 3 years.

Check out the site. Good luck with your training!

    Try nikerunning.com

The routines are free, but in order to log your miles over there you need to buy there app and other evil stuff

I just signed up for my first half in Oct, so I will be in the same boat as you. Are you training for it just because or are you doing to register for a race? Good luck!

Just because. I don't need to lose any more weight really and without a goal to work towards, I was getting bored.
