Hello, I am 5'8 and 162-164 pounds. Most of my body is thin except my stomach which measures around 38-40 inches out. I know it is big but what can i do to stop it.

Stay in a calorie deficit. Body fat will dissipate.

It is likely your body shape that you are prone to gathering fat in central area... Good thing is since it's mostly just there when you start losing weight it will start shrinking too :) Just count your calories and make sure you are in a small deficit :) Good luck!

Is it possible you are pregnant?

No, I'm not. I know it looks that way, but I have always had that awkward belly. I can generally suck it into seem normalish but am tired of doing that. I fear it may be dangerous to have all the fat there.

To be honest, you need to be checked for fibroids. Large fibroids make your stomach look like that, like you're pregnant.

I agree with above I would go to a doctor first to make sure there isn't any underlying condition and then work at eating at a small deficit to loose weight once you get the all clear.

Definitely see a doctor. There are other things medically that could be causing this, too. Don't mess around with it.

Belly fat usally is not entirely a weight problem, it's a hormone issue High Cortisol Levels. Diets don't lower cortisol they lower calories wich could cause stress inevitably the body as a surving mechanism holds onto fat. Make sure your eating enough, getting enough sleep & reducing any stress or stressful situations or even people.

I am 5'1 and 143 lbs and have a 39 inch waist at the widest point. Here I am 11 lbs from a healthy BMI and my stomach is way above the recommend size for optimal health. I see a lot of people saying the belly is the last to go so that's what I'm hoping for. Looking at the pictures yours looks a little rounder than mine but pretty similar - is it hard? You might be constipated/ bloated . I wish I had better advice but I say just keep plugging away. It took 55 lbs for my stomach to go from 45 inches to 39- its the curse of being apple shaped.

I agree seeing the doctor is the best thing - I just had my annual physical and they advised to change my diet and take a laxative. No real medical issues so just letting you know this could be natural for you. Obviously see a doctor first but if everything's ok its probably just your build.

Cortisol levels alone aren't likely to cause that kind of waist.

OP, above 40" waist in men / 35" waist in women while still in the normal weight BMI category (which you are just on the edge of for your height) is considered more predictive of negative health outcomes than being overweight BMI (not obese) and not having such a waist size.
There are a few conditions people have mentioned. Other possibilities include genetic bad luck that you possible are incredibly disposed towards central obesity, which means weight loss is still strongly advisable. In a similar vein, you could have a form of normal weight metabolically obese condition, perhaps having low amounts of lean mass. Indications of this would include if you have problems with strength based tasks - in extreme cases people who have such a condition have problems getting out of a chair.

I have had the same body shape (larger belly) since after I had my first child, then the 2nd made it worse. I could do a million traditional ab exercises to tone help strengthen it but it still will look "distended". I found that it was Diastis Recti, where your muscle walls have separated. There are certain exercises that you can do to "counter" that abdominal split. But also see a Dr. to rule out any other possibilities. 7k4rf8yjp9nb.png

I wish I had gone to the doctor when my stomach had looked like that. I've always carried weight in my stomach so didn't think much of it until I was taken to the hospital. Turns out I had a 16 lb ovarian cyst and a 6 week hospital stay. I wish I had gone to the doctor much sooner when I started to wonder if something was wrong. I knew I wasn't pregnant so figured it was just weight gain.
