How to get over being impatient?

In the past five months I've lost 43lbs, going from 162 to 119. I'm 5'3 so I want to still lose another 10-15ish pounds. I'm becoming really impatient and discouraged because the results aren't as drastic anymore. This is leading me to be stressed and feel as though I should lower my calorie intake or workout more. I already am eating 1,200-1,400 calories a day though and I workout daily for an hour, so doing changing anything seems like it could become unhealthy.

How long did it take you to hit your goal weight if you have already?
How do you deal with being impatient?

Thank you, means a lot! :)

I wish I had an answer. I will tell you that I dream of your statistics! Honestly I have gained and lost more weight than I care to admit. Currently I am struggling to stay on track after being back at this for two weeks. Yes, you read that right! I lost 40 lbs. 2 years ago and blew it all in a few quick months. I workout daily and try my best to stay in my calories.

I absolutely understand what you are going through and it sucks! My trainer has before mentioned a tactic that might quick start/jolt your weight loss back into action. He has before recomended taking one week off of calorie deficit. Just eating regularly and healthy choices but upping your calories for one week and then starting back where you are now. You might google it and see if you can find anything.

Otherwise, I know what you are going through and it really should all come together in time! Wish I had a fix but it's an idea I suppose. I wish you the best and CONGRATULATIONS on how far you have come, really well done!!

Healthy weight loss is between 0.5-2lbs per week. If you lose weight faster than that, you have a much higher chance of gaining it back. So don't be frustrated with slow weight loss.

At 5'3" you're not that short, so to take off another 15lb off your current 119lb would bring you to 104lb. I reckon your body will fight you tooth and nail, so you better learn to be patient. Or maybe realise you don't need to lose another 15lb and go for some recomp instead.

I don't think borderline underweight is anything to strive for. You are already at a perfect weight - I'm as tall as you, and weigh 5 pounds more (and I'm happy with my weight). If what you want is to look slimmer, not to see some arbitrary number on the scale, you could switch to body recomp, as CollieFit just suggested.

It's taken me 8 months to lose 18 pounds. Be happy for what you have. It could be worse.

By realizing that reaching some arbitrary number on the scale wasn't actually the end of anything, it's actually the beginning of the real and much more challenging aspect of all of this; losing weight is *kitten* easy...realizing that all of this goes into perpetuity...by focusing on my health and fitness and not some number on the scale.

    Congrats on your loss!

To deal with impatience, I like to set a variety of goals in weight loss, measurements, progress pics, nutrition, and fitness. That way, when one area is slow, others are doing well. There are always things to be happy about.

Also, it is very important to educate yourself so that you KNOW what to expect as your progress towards your ultimate goal, and don't continue to EXPECT as dramatic results. I've lost 135 over 21 months and still going. Now that takes patience!

PS I also read Success Stories of people who have lost even more than me over an even longer period. Then I don't feel so bad about how long it takes for me. :D
