It doesn't matter, it's all personal preference unless you get acid reflux.

I've heard people at work and elsewhere state don't eat before bedtime or you will gain weight. That isn't true. It all boils down to your total calories burned for the day vs. your total calories consumed. As long as you don't go over your calorie goal you are fine. You burn calories even while sleeping or just sitting and resting. Another app lists my daily calorie burn as 2340 for sleep and rest and my Fitbit account lists it at 2457. If you exercise also then the calorie burn will raise.

If you fall asleep while eating, you should probably stop before that.

Meal timing doesn't matter unless you have a medical condition (GERD, acid reflux, etc.) where eating will cause problems.

Approximately 3 hours before going to bed, this way your body won't still be trying to digest your food while your sleeping. The best rule is to always going to bed a little hungry, not starving but just hungry enough that you know there's practically no food left in your stomach.

It doesn't really matter. I eat dinner at 8:30 pretty much every night and go to bed around 10...you're going to bed, not dead...which means you still have a metabolism.

    Why?

You do know it takes way more than 3 hours to full digest your food and it doesn't matter if you digest while sleeping because your digestive system is still working.

One SHOULD stop eating once they've met their calorie goal. Eating more after will just be a surplus. As to an actual time, it doesn't matter. Meal timing has no effect on most people. And unless there's an issue with reflux, it's not bad to eat up until you sleep.

Does your metabolism slow down when you sleep, make it less efficient at digesting food...
