If I weigh my grapefruit or orange and eat it, should I then subtract the leftover weight of the peel when entering the fruit?

Yes. Or peel it first and weigh only the portion you will eat.

I get rid of all the parts I'm not going to eat before I weigh it. Example - I get rid of the core of the apple before I weigh it.
