So I ate 1159 calories today.my goal is 1200.I also did some exercise.because of the exercise it told me I was eating too few calories
If my logic is correct then if I eat ny exercise calories then doesn't that completely defeat the purpose of exercising?I don't understand...

in my opinion you have to play around with it. The more weight you lose, the less calories your body needs to function..I try to eat some of my exercise calories but not all of them, and that seems to help me. If i do eat them all one day then the next day i'll sometimes not eat any of them. You may have to play around with it and see what 's best for YOU :)

I choose not to eat the exercise credits because I like you feel it defeats the purpose.

It gave you the "warning" because you went under 1200 calories...it will do that exercise or not, it's just a standard. Even if you were at 1199 it will tell you that.

Eating back exercise calories is a whole other story and debate around here lol. Try different things and see what works for you, like maybe eating 50%. Depending on how much you're burning, and how often you work out, it would be hard for your body to continue on say 600 (net/after exercise) calories a day for long.

You are supposed to eat your excercie calories. You have "earned" them by doing extra activity. Your daily calories have already been reduced to allow for 3,500 calories less than your body needs per week. 3,500 calories = 1 pound. (I am assuming you set your plan to lose 1 pound per week). I always ate my excercise calories (and lost weight).

MFP's goal for you has a calorie deficit built in so you will lose weight by eating to your goal. When you exercise you increase that deficit, sometimes by too much to be healthy. Eating back your exercise calories helps make sure your body has enough nutrients and energy to function. Of course, some people have success from eating back half or not at all. You need to find what works for you.

Eating less than a 1200 net is not recommended because it's hard for your body to get enough energy to function normally. Eating too few calories for a long time can cause your body to get scared and hold on to fat, making it harder to lose weight.
