zumba calories

I've worn my brand new polar hrm to zumba twice now... It says I burn about 600 cal for an hr class. Another girl in the class wears an e-pulse monitor.... her heart rate is usually a little higher than mine... but she burns about twice the amount of calories i do???? Though 1200 for an hour for zumba seems a little nuts.

What do you burn?

    About 600 an hour. I use a wrist watch monitor that requires me to take my HR every so often, so it's probably not as accurate as one with a chest strap. I've just ordered a polar F4 so I'll check back after I use it in a class!

    But calries burned are based on a lot of factors.

    I have only done one class, but my polar f11 was at 600 for an hour.

    Take a look at http://www.zumbacalories.com enter your weight, workout duration & intensity and it will calculate how many calories you have burned based on average metabolic rates
