I am beyond frustrated. For the last few years I've been struggling with my weight. The last 2 years has been particularly rough. I had my gallbladder removed May 2014, then I lost my baby boy due to premature birth January 29, 2015. My weight has gone up and up. I'm 196 pounds at 5'2". I have diastasis recti and with the excess weight I look pregnant. Obviously looking pregnant is not ideal for me considering my loss. I have been trying so hard to lose weight. Cutting my fat intake, logging everything I eat, exercising, drinking water, etc. But nothing works. I know stress can have a huge impact on weight but at some point the diet and exercise should still have some positive impact. Right? I am in therapy so I'm getting help with the stress aspect. But I'm just at the end of my rope. Please if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

If you are new here, I suggest you read this link. It explains the concept of CICO and how you should approach weightloss step-by-step.

I think I need to look into my thyroid function. My PCP has tested it in the past but he said it was fine. The last test was about 2 years ago. The reason I think my thyroid might be an issue is because I have 2 sisters with hypo(?)active thyroid and they struggle with their weight as well. Maybe I need to be more assertive and ask for more tests or a referral to a specialist.

If hypothyroidism is a possibility, then you should definitely get it checked. I gained a lot of weight as a teenager because my thyroid was out of whack but I never thought to get tested lol. A few months of medication and a good diet later, the issues were gone.
