I really really miss my bodymedia. Does anything else compare?

When they discontinued it and stopped supporting it, I opted for a Jawbone UP3 hoping that they would employ the same technology as the bodymedia, since they are the ones who acquired them.

Well, I am so incredibly disappointed. I feel like all I have is an overpriced, glorified pedometer.

My bodymedia was able to detect the number of METS I expended every minute, regardless of whether the activity I was doing was step based or not. But if I'm crawling around in the snow, helping my kids build a snowman, working up a sweat, my UP3 tells me that I've taken a very tiny number of steps and a small calorie burn to go along with that. Sure, I can input manually, but what do I even call that? I guess I categorize it under "other", but then there's the effort level. Easy? Moderate? In the zone? I don't want to cheat myself into thinking I've burned more calories that what I actually did, but, I haven't built a snowman in many many years, and that was definitely not "easy" lol!

My bodymedia on the other hand, would display a calorie burn relative to my exertion, without me needing to swing my arm so that it counts as a step.

Are there any other fitness trackers out there that will give me a by-the-minute calorie burn without a manual input?

You need something with a heart rate monitor

    Any suggestions?

Right now, I'm looking at the Fitbit blaze and basis peak. I was looking at straight up heart rate monitors before, but I want something that isn't limited to just monitoring my actual workouts. I want something that keeps track of the little things too.

    What would that accomplish?

OP, I feel your pain. I've been looking for 2 years to either upgrade my BMF or replace it to no avail. The jawbone purchase of the company has only produced disappointment.
