Garmin Index- Does it work? Does anyone recommend it?

Greetings all. Is anyone having any success with the Garmin Index? Does anyone have a positive review? Anyone recommend it? I like and prefer the features/functions it has, more so than the Withings or Aria, and I would really like to get one. Alas, all the negative reviews and reports makes me really hesitant to buy one. Wondering if I should gamble and get one now, wait awhile longer and see if Garmin corrects the problems, or pass on it completely.

And please, only positive recommendations and reports, hold the negatives as I can find and read negative reviews/comments everywhere. Thanx.

Cheers,

Mark

I have always liked his reviews...http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/02/garmin-scale-review.html

Also it depends on your source of tracking do you use garmin products? I really like garmin but I find fitbit fun to use as a daily tracker as all my friends have fitbits and so maybe your other devices should be also considered. If your not already using Garmin activity software/ daily activity device.

Hi Rod. Yes, I frequent DC Rainmakers website which is where I learned about the scale. And all my products are Garmin. I'm leaning heavily towards the Index but will wait a few days to see what other, if any, response I receive here, on Ray's site, and the Garmin forum.

    Cheers,

Exterior appears to look just like my Aria. I'll bet they're identical, with slightly different firmwares.

If so, it's a decent scale. Accurate, and self-zeroing. Ignore the bf% though.

Does it play well with others? One of the reasons I went with Withings is because it will sync with almost everything (except Garmin ironically). That was (still is) my biggest concern.

Well, the Garmin scale will sync with Garmin Connect, which I know syncs with MFP... And, Strava. So, you should be good to go, by and large.

I'd love to hear your impressions of it after it arrives, and after you've had it a while, if you care to share them with us.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Longtime Garmin user, all my data's in Connect, I'm using a smart scale and entering my weight into Connect manually. DCR's review was underwhelming although not all of his concerns bother me terribly; I'm fine with the last measurement "winning." But it's also a lot of money and I have other things to spend it on ... sitting on the fence. Hope you like yours.

Can't comment on the Garmin scales, but I can put another system into the mix, I have a Tanita scale and a third party app on my phone to read the data and the app also that pushes the data into Garmin Connect, the scale happens to work with a number of older Garmin products. One issue I have is Connect does not then feed into MFP so I would love to hear if using their scales push weight and body fat data out to MFP. Although it does pull the data so you have to get the sequence right.

Garmin index Scale will not sync with MFP. It actually gets wiped out if you put you weight in MFP manually. You lose all the data created by Garmin index scale sent to Garmin connect. Like to have my right weight in MFP but i lose all my other data like BMI ect...

    Random question.

Does this scale change the "resting" calories your device reports? There's no way (that I know of) to enter your basic body composition into Garmin Connect. Muscle tissue requires moderately more energy than fat to maintain. I'm doing a lot of strength training right now trying to build more muscle. My device (Fenix 3 HR) has a page that shows how many calories I've burned for the day, broken into "active" and "resting."
