I know this thread is for maintainers - hope to be one soon. |In the interim while I stare at the last 10 lbs... have to mention i did NOT drink wine for four days straight this week (huge accomplishment for me) and dropped more than a pound after a week-long plateau! Have to try it again next week. Maybe I can make it a habit before I am in maintenance!

I drink occasionally and I definitely log it ahead of time, so I can make the rest of my daily calories fit around it. Just logged the can of 200 calorie beer I'm going to drink tonight!

    I gave it up.
Once the buzz settles in, I become like a human shark in bloody water on a food frenzy.

I maintain while having a few drinks a week (spread out, not all in one day, lol). I am low carbing so I prefer to choose drinks with lower or 0 carbs like pure spirits (vodka, whiskey, 100% agave tequila - my choices with no mixers) or dry wines. Alcohol does lower inhibitions though, so you are more likely to choose extra foods (go off your eating plan) causing you to have more difficulty maintaining or even possibly gaining.

Yeah and I don't log it, usually. 2-3 drinks on Saturday, one on Sunday and one on Friday, generally. Mixed drinks, we call them "fancy drinks" but often just whiskey and soda and lime, or whiskey and lemonade, or vodka and lemonade, with small additions of other liqueurs to add depth, stuff like that.

Fiance used the same tactic as powered85 and switched from beer to bourbon, which in addition to helping him to lose some weight, smells so much better. Beer breath yuck, whiskey kisses yum.

Why pay a specialist if you aren't going to take her advice? It seems like a waste of time and money to me.
