Doing it on my own this time

On a new weight loss journey. Have successfully lost weight before with programs such as Weight Watchers and Medical Weight Loss, but have not been successful at maintaining weight loss. For years I was convinced that I couldn't lose weight on my own. Recently I've changed to thinking that I might be more successful at keeping weight off if I lose it on my own, without a program because it will have to be a lifestyle change more than a diet. Also, I will have to think for myself and make good choices for the rest of my life, not just for as long as I attend meetings. Anyone else out there have similar experiences?

I've done most things tbh calories us all they are just prettied up to sound better

I could have shares in weight watchers and unislim, hated going back time and time again. I am down 60lb and I have kept it off going solo. The best thing about doing it yourself is that you are only kidding yourself at the end of the day, I find that by filling in the diary honestly gives me the motivation I need - I hate seeing it full of rubbish or disappointed that I've gone over calories for the day. Better still it's not costing me anything. If I slip up and put on a few pounds, I just log back in and start again. No weekly shaming in the local town hall! Best of luck on your journey xx

Yep. I lost weight with WW but couldn't maintain. Tried the new program but I found it too "stiff" I was always going over my daily points and my weekly points. I felt deprived all the time. I've started counting calories again with maintenance in mind. There's a podcast called " Half Size Me" that is fantastic and she has videos on Facebook ( search Half Size Me). She talks a lot about how to maintain, not just lose over and over.2

I agree with natslastjourney - Half Size Me is great -- and she's been through the whole WW thing, so has some great perspective on being consistent, being responsible for yourself, etc. I also like Tips of the Scale with Sam Lomelli - great podcast.

Many have experienced exactly this, @Georgesear, and I see your acknowledging it as a sign that your mindset has reached the placed it needs to be for long-term change. Health and wellness don't have a finish line. Best of luck, and keep reaching out for help & support when you need it!0
