From obese to goal in exactly a year!

I lost 36 kg / 79 lbs in exactly a year.

I ate chocolate every day.

I drank alcohol nearly every day.

I ate whatever I most wanted, within my calorie limit.

Don’t worry, “clean” freaks, that included a lot of seafood and veg.

I did lots of walking, running, and bodyweight exercises, and I ate most of those calories back, so I was never hangry.

I didn’t have cheat meals or cheat days. I didn’t need to, because I wasn’t depriving myself of anything.

I made some great friends, and learned a lot from the MFP Community and the Helpful Posts.

I started the year of weight loss by starting walking to and from work. Over the year I gradually increased my exercise, and in September I suddenly needed to go faster one day, and began running. I did the Couch to 5K (Zen Labs app), and I can now run 15 km without stopping.

But my weight loss secret? My “Calories In” were less than my “Calories Out”.

I feel so healthy and happy!

YIPPEE!! Well done!! You look fab. I also lost 18 kilos but it took me 18 months. I did very little exercise so maybe thats why it took me 6 months extra, and I am also post menopausal at 54. I did not eat chocolate or alcohol every day, just a little at week ends. I stuck rigidly to logging and the 5;2, and had to do 4;3 to loose the last bit. So glad we got there in the end. NO FOOD FEELS LIKE SLIM!! :) I have now been successfully maintaining for 6 months!!

The way you've laid it out makes it sound so simple; not easy, but simple. I'm most impressed with the 15 km though!! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments!

You look great!! I too have been following a similar plan as yours for the last six weeks and have lost 17.5 pounds so far. My motto: If I want it, I eat it, but in moderation. :)

I really like your moderate attitude! A lot of mfp information can get really technical and caught up in minutiae. You show us that it is possible to make fantastic progress without becoming obsessive. Congratulations on reaching your goal and thanks for the inspiration :)
