Trader Joe's just opened up in our city, and my husband I will be going tonight for the first time ever. I thought I would ask for any suggestions especially regarding gluten free items. Thanks!

Not food related but they have beautiful cheap fresh flowers!
Also, their Olive oil is delicious and their wines are said to be top notch!0 -
Everything they sell is great, fun and sometimes a bit different. TJ's is my regular market! Have a ball, try new things!0

Love Trader Joe's! Take your time to look around and read the labels. They have amazing stuff! And, yes their wines are top-notch!0

I love Trader Joe's and do the bulk of my grocery shopping there. I haven't really been dissappointed by anything, but I don't really buy any preprared stuff, usually just the staples like cheese, milk, produce, nuts. Here are a few favorites:
Any of their chicken sausages are good
White Cheddar Puffs
Tuna and Green or Panang Curry packets
Spelt Tortillas
Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Light String Cheese0 -
Not sure if anything I get there is gluten free but feel free to check. I usually stock up on:
21 salute seasoning-its yummy and NO salt!
Fresh artichokes-great on a grill
three layer hummus
multi grain english muffins
sprouted wheat bread (TJ brand)
red pepper spread with eggplant and garlic
crumbled feta with mediteranian herbs
super seed tortilla chips
dark chocolate covered edemame
natural peanut butter
various jams
fresh fruits-apples, strawberries, bananas etc
chicken sausage-they have several kinds
chicken drumsticks-all natural
wines
organic chocolate syrup
chocolate chips semi sweet
TJ's harvest grains
bruschettta
artichoke bruschetta/dip0 -
Get their fat free greek yogurt. I eat it everyday. 22 protein,7 carb, 0 fat per serving.0

One of my Coworkers is gluten free and loves all their products. My personal favorite thing to get there is their nuts. I also love their low sodium broths I think those are gluten free.0
-
They have pretty good produce and we usually get our cheese, milk, eggs, ect from there.0
-
They also have a list of their gluten free foods on their website if you are curious.0

I'm not sure if it's gluten free but I really love their Chimichurri Salmon and Ahi Tuna (in the frozen) sections. They are a bit high in sodium (although not terrible) but soo delicious.0

ha, rather than me list everything, feel free to add me as a friend. 90% of my diary is TJ's. If something is gluten free, TJ's typically clearly lists it on the product.0

Ask when you go, they have lists printed up that are amazingly up to date with all of their foods that fit special needs diets - like gluten free, vegan, etc. They are usually brightly colored and hanging on a wall by the frozen food section. You can pick one up and use it as a guide around the store! I'm vegan, and it's very helpful.
I like everything I've had there, and I shop there often. Their nuts are great - lots of mixes, lots of raw. Have fun! The first time I took my mom to a TJs she just about died.0 -
Their cheeses are the best - and so much cheaper than most other places! I am not gluten free but I am wheat free and they have some great stuff there! They have fabulous flax seed tortilla chips that I love with their salsa especial - which is amazing.
Also, they do have chicken gluten free meatballs near the cheese section - two different kinds, buffalo / bleu cheese and italian, both are super good. I'm also a big fan of their soups that come in boxes - 4 cups total. Their tomato and the black bean are my favorite but they also have carrot soup, squash, and tomato roasted pepper. Lime fruit flos (popsicles) are great and only 60 calories.
I love Trader Joe's - pretty much all my shopping is done there because the quality is great and I have found that they tend to have the best prices around. Their produce is a little lacking but it's gotten much better over the past couple years. Their bagged lettuce is about the cheapest you can find and very good quality.
Have fun!0 -
I learned from this site about TJ's almond meal, which I believe is gluten-free. I toss a little in oatmeal and similar dishes to get a protein boost.0

Chicken sausage! I really like the sun dried tomato-basil chicken sausage, and at only 110 calories and 6 grams fat, you get 11 grams of protein and a big flavor punch! If you have a sweet tooth, the Ginger Cats cookies are phenomenal, and you can eat 15 cookies for 120 calories and 2 grams fat (and bonus 2 grams protein!).0

Thanks everyon!!! I'm even more excited now. (I was already really excited, lol) People use to have to drive for an hour or more to go to a Trader Joes, so I never went, but now it's here in town, across town, but I'm not going to complain about that, it's like 15 min away!0

I usually just go up and down the isles 3X to make sure i didnt forget to get something!!! LOL0

I love love love Trader Joe's! In fact I have to go there right after this. Here's some of my fav items:
Vegetarian Chili - sooooo tasty
Hummus - they're all good
Lentil Chips - I think they're 22 chips for 120 cals. Crazy low calorie!
Light Butter - not gross like some margarines
So many good cheeses!
There's more but now I'm hungry, time to go, I'll have more later.0 -
bump to read when i have more time0

Their fresh fruits and veggies are awesome - very flavorful. I hate buying fruit only to get it home and it has absolutely no taste. Never have had that problem with TJ produce. If yours carries pink cripps apples they have amazing sweet crunchy flavor.
I don't know if its gluten free but they have a sesame, ginger soy viniagrette that is great. I like their breakfast burrito once in a while and if I am in the moodfor a treat, tbeir milk chocolate bars rule!!!0 -
Oh ya and if you like the occasional frozen dinner, the Chicken Tikka Masala is amazing and pair it with some frozen garlic naan. Delicious!0
-
21 salute seasoning!!!0

Love TJ's Roasted Seaweed Snack. I just stocked up today :-)
Only 60 calories for the whole package (with only 100 mg sodium total) and high in Vitamin C and other good stuff. Mmmmm.0 -
Not sure if it is gluten free, but they have a spice grinder called Everyday Seasoning. It is good on meat, vegetables, eggs, etc. I like that the grinders are reusable for my own mixes!0
