For those of you who have started your journey around 250lbs.
How much did you have to lose before PEOPLE noticed the weightloss?
How much did you have to lose for YOURSELF to notice the weightloss?

I started at 261 and am currently 221, immediate family noticed at around 20lbs down, people outside of this either haven't noticed yet or just haven't said and myself I really started seeing it around 30lbs off but everyone is different depends on height and body shape too I guess1
-
I started at 211 (and I'm 5'2). For others it was at 30 lbs I started getting tons of comments. For myself, it was closer to 20 lbs, but I could only see it in my progress pictures.0

I started heavier and and have lost 15lbs. It's mostly come off my waist and tummy and it's already noticeable.2
-
I started at 248.5, started getting comments at about 220. People were alarmed when I got into the 180's. Nobody said a damn thing when I went back up to 205. Striving for comments again, LOL.13

Started at 236. Got comments around 20lb loss. I could see it about 6-8lbs0

I'm 5ft 2 and started at 143lbs (I dont have much to lose). I noticed it after only 5lbs but the only person who noticed a change is my grandmother after I lost 15lbs but that was only after she hugged me lol2
-
I started at 230 down to 209 now. I get a couple comments from family, mainly because I lose in my face first but other then that no one has really noticed yet. im thinking at the 30lbs mark it will be obvious3

I started at 257, currently sitting at 244. No one has noticed really yet but I have! I can't stop feeling my ribcage because it's leaned out so much. My face is a bit thinner as well. The best thing is my clothes are starting to fit normally ( lol I was in denial and refused to buy any bigger clothes).8

I started at 216 - I started noticing around 15 pounds down cause my clothes were fitting much better.
I'm now 28 lbs down and the first person just commented on it a few days ago, so it's taken a while!0 -
Started at 215 now 193.
My husband and my 8 year old always says I look skinnier everyday. But I think that's just them encouraging me since they know I'm trying to lose weight.
But the other day, my co-worker asked me if I lost any weight..

I've lost 5 pounds so far (I know it's not a lot but I'm 140 and 5ft 7), and I've noticed weight loss myself before anyone else. I noticed when I touch the backside of my knees while sitting down, they're way thinner and not as squishy. My mom noticed that my legs were looking muscular about 5 weeks into working out. My boyfriend told me he noticed I lost weight when I jumped on his back for a piggy back ride about 5 weeks into working out also!! Hahah!! We are in college so we're still dorky. But yea, I myself haven't noticed any body differences except my legs. I hope my tummy slims down next!!2

I've lost close to 30 pounds and no one's said anything yet. Then again, I work with a bunch of socially inept computer nerds, so they may never say anything. *I* started noticing after about 15 pounds when my pants started fitting better. Now I have a couple pair I can't wear anymore because they're too big.
ETA: I started at 255 pounds and now I'm at 227.9 -
Started at 200 a few years back and I didn't notice any difference until I had lost over 30lbs.1
-
Started at 265, just starting to get comments now at 40+lbs lost.0
-
I started at 165 pounds. I'm 135 pounds and i'm just now noticing a visible difference in myself. But people in my family started commenting when i had lost my first 10 pounds or so.0
-
Congratulations on the weight loss everyone !!!2

I started at 323, but people noticed when I'd lost 40lbs, after about 8 weeks. The weirdest thing is that you don't necessarily want to buy a new wardrobe until you get to the end of your journey, but it's very rewarding when you do.3

Started at 154, now at 138. People notice after the first 10lbs.1

Haha! I'm glad I'm not the only one who was in denial about my clothes at a heavier weight. I started at 185 (wearing clothes I purchased at 165) so with a 17 lb weight loss, my legs stopped looking like stuff sausages in my pants.7 -
When I finally got clothes that fit!1

I'm 5'3 and started at 178. I'm now 160(.4!)
For me, the only person who outright commented was my fiancé's brother, which was after about 12 pounds or so. He was aware I was working out and trying to lose weight though so it's probably a bit more obvious.
My face has definitely slimmed down though, which is obvious as with my naturally round face, it just got rounder! I can also fit into a pair of jeans I bought in 'my size' two years ago that I never could wear as it wouldnt go over my thigh. Now they are comfy
Like other posters, I was in a bit of denial as the weight started to creep up so remained in the same clothes when I really should have gone up a size. Now they fit and are starting to get loose..3 -
Started somewhere near 230 I think, not sure of the conversions. My parents noticed and commented when I'd lost about 21lbs. I had noticed a few pounds earlier.0

Hello there, 5'4" starting weight 270, at around 30 lbs people noticed and started commenting. I think it takes awhile because of the way I dressed, I didn't change what I was wearing because it still technically fit. Now at just shy of 80 gone, I get tons of comments. My poor dad was worried that I might need to stop, when I told him I still weighed 190ish he was floored, I think seeing me so heavy for most of my adult life he had no idea what NORMAL was on me.
Seeing a friend that hadn't seen me in person for nearly a year really got a reaction. She was AMAZED! That felt good because it is so much slower now 1 1/2 years later.4 -
I started around 205 but it was around the 20 lb mark that most people started commenting about it.0

I have lost just over 70 pounds. I started at 283. The comments from other people started in the past couple of weeks, so after about 65 pounds. But once that first comment came, the floodgates opened and now people comment all the time.
My mind hasn't caught up. I know I am wearing smaller clothes and can fit in smaller places, but I still feel like I am the biggest girl around. Logically, I know that I have come a long way, but I cannot really "see" it. Kwim?7 -

@angfirst I have always gauged if i'm the largest in the room, or avoiding parking in a tight spot to avoid squeezing out of my vehicle, I wish I could see me through someone else's eyes. Someone who for years was smaller than me is now larger and that was WEIRD!!!4 -

Omg same I don't want to buy new clothes even though I've lost weight because I still need to lose ALOT more.

I started at 285 and had no comments until I'd lost about 80lbs, although a couple of people I know (men, mainly) said that they'd noticed but hadn't liked to say anything in case of causing offence, bless them.
I'm now 100+ down and still struggle to see myself as anything BUT how I was before. My clothes size has almost halved, I have cheekbones and collarbones, the insides of my knees are bruised where they clank together at night (I sleep on my side) my eyes appear bigger, I can see that physically I have shrunk (smaller clothes and there is now a huge gap between my stomach and the steering wheel of my car) but in my head I am still the former me. It's quite alarming as now people say I've lost weight but I disregard the comments as internally, I find it hard to acknowledge.8 -
I started at 210 - I am now 188.
Other people can see it, I can't at all, it is the most frustrating thing.0
