I just wanted to give a little review of my recent run on Smolov Jr.

My squat was stuck for year. I have had numerous back issues, massage work done on it for 3 years, chiro, x-rays, and finally it was found I had osteopenia and a few other issues. My back had a spasm so hard one time it pulled one of my vertebrae to the point I couldn't walk without dizziness from pain.

Roll on 8 month since my last chiro, which did nothing for me, and I finally started squatting and deadlifting again. I had been training away, protecting my back, and lots of stretching in the mean time.

So, over about 2 months I had started squatting and deadlifting to see how I felt and it went great. 1 rm 225 on the squat, and 1 rm of 255 on deadlift.

Smolov Jr ran for 3 weeks as prescribed and I really though I got no where. It is brutal. Horrible. No other words for it hahaha. No deadlifts for the entire 3 weeks. That is important.

So, I rested from Saturday until Wednesday and tested my deadlift, and to my disbelief I manages 3 x 1 rep x 300lbs. And I did it with no issues.

So on Friday night I tested my squat, which I felt I did not really progress at, and to my utter disbelief I manages to squat 3 x 1rep x 255 lbs.

This has revitalized my belief that I can get my strength back and will start my own strength program today and incorporate bench press to it now.

And I will mention, I did all of this while on keto intermittent fasting with Friday night / Saturday carb ups.

The biggest surprise to this was the muscles on my back and legs are popping. It is amazing in 3 weeks what can be done.
