Hey there! Shorty here (5'1, 150lbs) with a goal weight loss of 40lbs.
Currently I do about an hour of cardio every day just riding my bike to work (5.5 miles, moderate speed) and initially I lost almost 10lbs but then the weight loss just stopped!!
I'm working on changing my diet and counting calories with the MyFitnessPal phone app but I haven't seen any results yet.
I want to start lifting free weights to help burn calories, whats your opinion on females lifting heavy to LOSE weight?

I think it's a great idea. Make sure you're getting enough protein and food in general. There's nothing more painful than following an intense program and not fueling your body properly. I wish I could ride my bike to work that would be cool!

Lifting heavy isn't really great for losing weight. It's awesome for having a more athletic looking build, so if that's the body type you're going for, lifting heavy will help you look better at any given weight.
