I am clueless when it comes to vitamins. I'm wondering what I should be taking daily.
What vitamins to you take, and why?
What are the calories?

I just take a women's daily. Most vitamins don't have calories, other than the gummies.0

The best thing to do is see your doctor and get a blood test to see what you are actually deficient in, then follow your doctors reccomendations.3
-
Get blood work results from MD.0

I take iron tablets as I'm slightly anaemic, so I take a multivitamin with iron. The rest I get from foods. Unless you're deficient in anything just eat a balanced diet & you should get your vitamin needs from the food.1

I take just a multivitamin.
Insurance does not pay for unnecessary blood work (must have a medical reason).
Call if you decide to start asking for iron test, vit d, etc.
I was hit with a $125 charge for asking for my vit d level along with my free yearly cholesterol test.0 -
Vitamins and minerals have no calories, but too much can be just as bad as too few with certain ones. If your logging, MFP will show you your intake for some. Are they at least 75% most days? Then you're probably good.0
-
Every day: 2000 mg vitamin D3 and a probiotic
Other than that, I cycle through a few things throughout the week like vitamin C, K, B's, magnesium. It kind of depends on what I've been eating.

Which vitamins can you have too much of? I always go over on vitamin A and C, is this dangerous?0 -

It is very hard to get too many vitamins from food.

Personally, I take a general multivitamin, B complex, Magnesium, Kelp, Curcumin and fish oils.
But as repeated above, the only way to know what you need is to talk to your doctor and see what you are deficient in.0 -

From the NIH:
Vitamin A: no dangerous adverse effects unless you repeatedly and excessively eat massive amounts
https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminA-HealthProfessional/#h8
Vitamin C: you'll get diarrhea

100g of sweet potato has 283% of vitamin A so that alone takes me over on vitamin A0 -
I take a multivitamin and an additional vitamin D capsule.0

Your diary shows that you also take a multivitamin every day. Do you need it every day? Can you just take an iron supplement?0 -

Vitamin D, a daily multi with niacin, vitamin C, coQ10, Omega 3, calcium, and a bunch of others that do various things for the body. I also get my blood work done twice a year and adjust my vitamins as necessary.0
-
I take a multi. Also a fish oil pill.
I also take iron because I'm slightly anemic.
I take calcium because I'm prone to osteoporosis.0 -

This isn't true for all insurance, under Obamacare act in the US states that preventative care is to be covered, and a full panel blood test and screenings for vitamin deficiency and blood glucose was all totally covered even before I hit my deductible.
I am only deficient in vitamin D so that's what I take, plus B12 for energy now that I'm off my antidepressants.0 -
I take vit d and iron everyday due to a blood test I had 9 years ago that said I was anemic and I wasnt getting enough vitamin d.
I also take folic acid and biotin because I now see a dermatologist that says I should be taking these everyday.
I take fish oil because, I really don't know why, I've always heard it was good to take.
And I take melatonin because I suck at sleeping.1 -

Vit D
multi vitamin
Evening primrose oil
Probiotics
And sometimes magnesium to help keep me regular.0 -
What I take and the calorie count (vitamints are supposed to be 2, but I only take 1)
Centrum - Vitamints, 1 mints 5 (multivitamin)
Enzymatic Therapy - Pearls Ic Probiotics, 1 pearl capsule 0 ( I have been on a lot of antibiotics lately)
Lifetime - Biotin, 1 Vegetarian Capsule 0 (for my nails)
Natures Bounty - Flaxseed Oil 1200mg, 1 softgel 15 (Omega 3 oil)
Viactiv - Calcium Plus D Soft Chews, Caramel, 1 Chew 15 (for my bones)
Magnesium , 1 tablet every other day- to help with the psoriasis
Zinc, 1 tablet -- for autoimmune issues
Doc says my vitamin D is a bit low, and my nails are weak from my psoriasis. I take flaxseed instead of fish oil and brought my triglycerides down to 60 from 149. I was also recently treated for lyme disease and cellulitis which is why I take the Probiotics.0 -
Vitamin D overdose is extremely rare, but there is such a thing as too much. Too much vitamin D can lead to a vitamin overdose and can cause permanent damage to your kidneys and heart.
Vitamin B6 overdose can lead to nerve toxicity.
Vitamin B3 can lead to nausea, jaundice, and liver toxicity.
Too much folic acid, too, can mask the symptoms of a B12 deficiency
Vitamin A supplementation may enable you to delay getting reading glasses since it supports the function of the human eye, but a severe vitamin A overdose can actually cause death.
Probably one the most widely known and one of the most dangerous vitamin overdoses, particularly for children, is an iron overdose.0 -
... And the only calories I've noticed in vitamins are the oil based ones, fish oil and evening primrose.0
-
There is no danger of taking vitamin A from foods. No matter how much.
The danger is from taking supplements in high amounts.
Others that are also dangerous in very large amounts can be vit E, vit D, vit K vitamins (not foods).0 -
I eat quite healthy (lean meats& poultry, plenty of veg, fruit, berries, oats, good balance of macros), but supplement with multivitamin with omega oils, vit D+calcium (D & calcium deficient), chondroitin + glucosamine, creatine monohydrate.0
-
I take vitamin c, b12, b-complex, flaxseed, magnesium and a couple others0
-
I take a multivitamin, vit c, b12 (for energy), calcium, vit d 1000u, fish oil, biotin and vit e (for my skin)0
-
Thinking I need to add magnesium though because I get really bad foot and leg cramps when exercising0

I think magnesium will help with that. Magnesium citrate is supposed to be more easily absorbed than magnesium oxide. Watch out for the laxative effect if you take too much.0
